  1. TEN albums for under a tenner...WHAT! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mobley-Classic-Blue-Collection-1955-1961/dp/B00IYLWVA4/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1407498895&sr=1-1&keywords=hank+mobley+blue
  2. I've just noticed that Fresh Sounds have just released a "three-on-two" by this pianist: I must admit I've never heard of him, or heard anything by him ..... can anyone recommend (or not) this.
  3. Did they ever go away?
  4. How can you frame water? ... it wasn't me, guv.... honest.
  5. with Irish dancing? .. and Morris Dancing?
  6. Wish I could have been there..........I'm green with envy
  7. Nice response from Marc Myers over at Jazz Wax: http://www.jazzwax.com/
  8. Have you got a link for the website?... I can't find it using "Darumaya".
  9. That can't be right. I'm always buying stuff from Japan and I've never been asked for that. Which website are you referring to?
  10. Looks like a number of his books have been reprinted including this one, my favoutite. He writes beautifully.
  11. ...... love the band uniform.... matching ponchos
  12. Don Friedman and David Friedman.... doh!
  13. ... not if you haven't got a turntable...
  14. Me too, Blue John is in the region of £13-£14 from cdjapan including airmail shipping to the UK. Mine's coming from an Amazon UK seller (in Switzerland) for a tenner. MG Not any more, it's gone up to £14 plus shipping..... so it's probably cheaper from CDJapan now.
  15. Yes, I noticed this when I was looking on the Cherry Red website for information on the new Annie Ross re-issue "Loguerhythms". They really do take care with their re-issues and this is very good value; four albums for £11. There's also this two-fer coming out from BGO next month: ... a veritable Burton-fest!
  16. I think I may have done Avid a disservice. It was this boxset by Real Gone Jazz that I had the problem with ... several of the albums on this were from mp3 sources.
  17. Same here.... and they answer e-mails!
  18. I have the last two, not the first two. Do you think the first two are in the same league? MG is a better source on this subject than I, but I'll just say yes - especially Out of the Forrest. A note of caution...The music on some of the other sets in this series has come from very dodgy sources. One set contained music from mp3 files, presumably grabbed from somewhere on the Internet. You may be lucky with this set... on the other hand you may not.
  19. Wow... a genealogy thread. Let's go for it....
  20. NO.........
  21. this exists as excellent sounding japanese Vinyl release.....better than nothing ..... Seems to be available at Honest Jon's........ http://honestjons.com/shop/preview/41154 and DustyGroove.... https://www.dustygroove.com/item/620534
  22. Yes, I e-mailed Eremite a while back asking whether they still had any copies of their Jemeel Moondoc CD, "Revolt of the Negro Lawn Jockeys" available and was offered one at a very inflated price. I ended up getting one through Discogs.
