  1. Oh they're already there! That's why this one's gonna put me in the Chateau Bow-Wow!
  2. I just pulled the trigger on the New Orleans set before it's gone. I can see that frying pan sailing towards my head when this shows up at the door
  3. Hasn't there been talk by Mosaic about releasing his Arista sessions at some point?
  4. TKM - $108 Liebman/Bierach - $44 $$ well spent!
  5. Welcome aboard!
  6. As far as Spiritual Unity and Ayler in general is concerned; it's a matter of how open-minded and receptive you are to the different forms of jazz. To me, Spiritual Unity is just as essential as Kind of Blue or the Hot 5's and 7's. I'm not a big fusion fan, but if someone said that Bitches Brew should be considered a "cornerstone" in a well-rounded, jazz library, I couldn't disagree. Same with Spiritual Unity IMO.
  7. A few others: Better living through Chemistry Sonic Jihad
  8. Too conventional! How 'ya gonna compare that to Dick Delicious and the Tasty Testicles???.
  9. Jackie O Motherfucker has always been a favorite of mine. There was a NYC-based band in the late '80s called Vic Morrow's Head which I thought was pretty clever. Another was Ed Gein's Car.
  10. 1) Jazz 2) Good Food 3) Gawking at beautiful women. I also enjoy a nice cigar evey now and then.
  11. I really enjoy this set. I ordered it without ever hearing Brookmeyer as a leader and I was a bit apprehensive due to the "traditional" jazz content - not my favorite era. His interpretations of the standards are not derivative in any way and everything sounds fresh and inventive. I suspect that you'll like it.
  12. I haven't been following the indie scene in a while, but I still listen to the following 80's-90s bands: Minutemen Volcano Suns Replacements Husker Du Sonic Youth Thin White Rope Butthole Surfers Dream Syndicate Flaming Lips Yo La Tengo Afghan Whigs
  13. Led Zep - Presence Tour.
  14. ok thanks for the info. I'll stick to the McMaster for a while.
  15. Larry Ochs did a session a few years ago on Black Saint. I think it's called Saxophone and Drum Corps. It's saxophone (alto and c-melody I believe) with two drummers. It's very good!
  16. This is my favorite Jackie McLean session. As Brandon mentioned, Clifford Jarvis is amazing, the compositions are great and Jackie is at the top of his game. I haven't picked up the RVG yet. Has anyone A/B'd it with the McMaster?
  17. No question! Worth every penny. Eat hot dogs for a few nights and then blow your wad at Luger's. Get the Porterhouse for two, creamed spinach some potatoes and a nice California Cab.
  18. Yes! That session is a killer.
  19. Go have a pizza at Patsy Grimaldi's underneath the Brooklyn Bridge.
  20. I love this set too and really don't think that the sound is that bad. Definitely not as bad as A Fickle Sonance IMO. I'm not an audiophile though, so if Lon says it sucks, then it probaby does, but I don't have a problem with it. The sessions are really good though.
  21. I gonna have to pick this one up soon. I still remember the first time I heard UNIT STRUCTURES; man, it was unlike anything I ever heard up to that point - I was completely blown away!
