With the vintage ribbon craze going on, I'm not surprised. Both mine need to be re-ribboned.

Looks like Joey is zeroed in on that blonde on the left. But that was the Rat Pack image and he played it off well. The gang's all together at last. RIP. To show what a huge nerd I am, the mic on the left is a Shure 315 ribbon (could be a 300 as well, but probably not) and the mic on the right is either a Shure 330 or 333 ribbon mic. I have two 330s, but they need to be re-ribboned. Really nice sounding mics.

Man, that beer looks good. Time to make some dinner and open a brew. Oh, and happy birthday Chris! Hope we can see each other again sometime and thank you for the story. I think the morale is JUST DO IT!

Just the facts

I didn't realize I needed to be addicted to heroin to be a legit jazz player. Good thing drug dealers are easy to find in my neighborhood. -
I sent it out yesterday, so it should be there soon, PhillyQ!

I have to separate the income, since this telethon is coinciding with the opening of the Big O Store (our record label store) and those sales are going to the same Paypal account. I gotta do some math, but I would say it's at least $300 at this point.

Joe, I'm really sorry to hear this. It is one of my closest fears, living in the neighborhood that I do and having as much expensive gear as I do. Of course, most of my stuff weighs a damn ton, so good luck with that! Thieves suck. And the feeling of being robbed sucks big-time. The worst part is they usually take off with stuff that really doesn't have much monetary value, but is full of sentimental value, like when I had my digital camera stolen from my van. The camera was old and pretty worthless, but it had a bunch of pictures of Zora's 2nd birthday on it that I had not yet transfered to the computer. All those are gone forever. Allen's idea of a security system of some kind is probably not a bad idea considering your circumstances.

BTW, I think I fixed the stupid shipping charges. Hopefully. Between that and trying to figure out why the new Big O Store at the Big O Records site is adding sales tax to non-Michigan orders, it's been a fun morning of code.

No, there are a lot of club owners out there.

clem, thanks for the sincere post and I apologize if I went off on you. I have a lot of shit on my plate and yes the road is very long and I can only see it getting worse from here before it gets better. I'm not really looking forward to that. I also apologize for complaining. And thank you to Allen for the telathon (that thread is cracking me up!) I hate asking people here for money. I just hate it.

Look, I'm not trying to threaten anyone here. I'm just being honest. I have enough stress in my life right now. The Michigan economy is so bad, the gigs have dried up and we're living month to month. Last winter I had to sell one of my Hammonds just to pay the mortgage. This winter is only going to be worse with higher heating costs, higher gas prices, and the new baby coming and I'm just telling you guys; if I have to start nipping expenses, this place will be on the chopping block. I have to be realistic. organissimo is still $2000 in debt from our last CD. This place is $150 a month. That's $1800 a year that could go to paying off that CD debt so we can make another one. We have 20, maybe 30 regular contributors. This place sometimes seems like a playground for a select few. And I'm always wondering whether it would be better career-wise for me to either give it up, give it to someone else, or at the very least change the name so the association with the band isn't there. I really don't need to make enemies in this business; it's hard enough to make it as is. Y'all can hide behind aliases, but I can't. I have nothing against clem, I just don't understand why he has to be a fucking prick all the time. The persona is tired. It's easy to criticize. It's much harder to actually do something.

Excuse me, "clem". You want to talk about losing money? I lose money on this site every goddamn month (me, trying to support an ill wife, a child, another on the way, and make records, all on an income that you New Yorkers would categorize as "dogshit", with ever decreasing gigs coming in). All so you can hide behind an alias and use the board as your personal blog to lash out at everything that your finely tuned tastes find beneath you. Have you ever contributed a red cent to this board? No. But you sure as hell use it as our own personal vendetta outlet, slinging insults like a belligerent drunk and acting like it's not personal. If this place disappears tomorrow, don't be surprised. I'm getting fed up.

Drug References on the Lawrence Welk Show
Jim Alfredson replied to Teasing the Korean's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Yep. Watched it last night. I gotta get my Tom Netherton fix. YOU CAN NOT BE SERIOUS!!!!! MG I am serious. And no, Bob Ralston and his Thomas can go stuff it. Gimme some Jerry Burke on the Hammond!!! -
BTW, the Big Ten Network sucks ass. So far I've been able to watch exactly ONE Michigan State game on TV because cable doesn't carry the BTN. And the reason they don't carry the BTN is because the BTN wanted a fee for every Comcast subscriber (nationwide), which comes to $60 million dollars. The last time the package TV rights were sold, they went for $2 million. So the Big Ten Network sucks for being greedy pricks. Good win by State last night. I had to watch the highlights on the local news.

CDBaby is coming soon. As of now you can order it via the Root Doctor page. Soon you'll be able to order it from the Big O Records site, including hi-res mp3s if you'd rather. But for now, it's available via the RD site. http://www.rootdoctorband.com/music.html

In this day and age there is no reason to have paper bills at all. Do internet payments. Makes everything much easier.
