  8. MG Jazz Nazis! :rsmile:
  9. I'm from out here in Orygone, so I know a little about beer. Let me tell you, I've been down every craft beer track you can imagine. Everything from Widemere Hefeweizen to Terminator Stout. Probably 20 years or so worth of experimentation. What do I drink now? Budweiser. These days, I just want something to quench my thirst. I no longer care about hoppiness, density, finish, cloudiness, Summer ale, Winter ale or anything else. Make mine a Bud. Up over and out. Man I hope I never get jaded like that.
  10. I just watched that clip again. Let me add proper emphasis: BURNIN' guitar.
  11. Burnin' guitar, tight band, satisfying pop tune (provided you haven't heard it too many times). And one other thing: a dignified presence in the leader, dig? I can see why people are frustrated with Benson. When someone can play that goddam well (I wish I had even half his right hand ability), you'd like the entire artistic package to be at that level, all the time. We (the musicians in my circle) might have liked it if he had jumped on the organ revival/groove music/jamband wagon when that started up in the 90's. But those were, and are, his choices to make, and make them he has. No, I don't think he's lost any sleep over it. Larry made a good point a while back about self-respect.
  12. GREAT post. Thanks.
  13. Worst. TV Special. Ever. Mother of GOD!
  14. Derek Trucks, John Abercrombie
  15. I would prefer to leave the robber standing there alone, wondering where I went. Or better yet, rob him while he's going through the motions of thinking that he's robbing me. Wish I had those superpowers.
  16. Happy Birthday to the guy with all the gifts!
  17. .....and he didn't even mention the Dorkestra's concert. Maybe the beer dude was the leader. Storkestra, baby!
  18. that grey cat looks a lot like my dear departed Sly.
  19. He has used this phrase or one close to it in interviews several times over the last several years. American culture in general is what I think he means. A popular culture that adores American Idol is probably not going to have any patience for someone developing themselves and their work over long spans of time. Based on my own experience, I feel he is, in general, talking about the great amount of resistance that a jazz or improvising musician often encounters in trying to get his or her work out there. People have a lot of negative connotations that arise when the word "jazz" is mentioned. Club owner to musician: "We tried jazz and it didn't work."
  20. This one has to be my all-time fav.
  21. Beautiful here today.
  22. You can't have it both ways in one sentence, Joe. You can't say, "we have a crappy lifestyle" and regret its passing. MG That's not what I meant. The regret would be for the fact that we've allowed it to be set up in such a way that it is so vunerable to price fluctuations.
