I've been listening to this almost exclusively for about a week. AMAZING stuff. I wonder how this would sound if don and sonny were mixed and not panned hard. Though the panning works. Everything is right and wrong with the music. Legal or not this release has been my favorite this year. I feel bad for sonny not getting his share, but sonny has so many recording he doesn't release for whatever reason. I like the road shows series, but prefer full shows/sets to compilations like the road shows are.

I ordered this yesterday before seeing this post. Will be here tomorrow and can't wait. Purchased because I got a new job with a heavy commute

Yup, Chuck was talking of the upcoming one, not of "Kampen". Great that there's so much recent/new Bradford around, guy really deserves it, as far as his playing goes (not saying he doesn't deserve it as a person, I'm not in a position to judge that, but love his playing a lot). Based on my interactions with him the times I've seen him, he deserves it more as a person than a player, and I hold him as high as any horn player out there

Same here. I've been outbid a few time for this one. I saw the Bradford post a few days ago. I love NoBusiness but the LP only thing is a bit a deterrent for myself. I love hunting vinyl when I can get it for an affordable price but CD is my medium of choice.

I'm not really sure anyone on this site in particular thought they were part of the target audience. I find this to be a fascinating study in marketing really. They seemingly packaged a run of the mill album (IMO) and are having substantial commercial success.

The new Darius Jones is excellent!! I've gotten to spin it 4 times since Friday. Back to Kamasi... I commend him for finding an avenue to deliver his music to the masses. I just don't find his release particularly inspiring. i'm curious if Kamasi thinks of his work as "groundbreaking" as some of the critics do.

Without going into detail, this guy has a huge collection, I mean, massive, of all kinds of music (i'm tempted to go ahead and say every kind of music, ever, seriously)and never sells any of it. Now, having said that, all I'm doing is passing along the communication. Beyond that, I know nothing about Amoeba other than they exist. But at least, hey, another option to consider.I've dealt with Amoeba on a few occasions. I always do trade-in value. Since the new year I haven't been impressed with their offers, though I'm taking 15-30 at a time. In the past though I had been very pleased. With a larger collection they may be more generous.

The 504 CDs I have are all legit, but I haven't bought any for a couple of years, so I don't know what they're up to these days. (I have most of their older releases on LP.) I've stopped buying any new jazz or blues CDs put out by the Concord group (Prestige, Riverside, Contemporary, Pablo, etc.); I've been burned too many times. If I want something on those labels that I don't already have, I seek out a used copy. While in Louisiana Music Factory I overheard one of the employees say to another "they were going to press up more copies this afternoon." I didn't inquire what they were talking about but I suspect they may be creating CDr copies on site. It wouldn't bother me so much if I knew before purchase it was a CDr.

Saw Wessell Warmdaddy Anderson perform at Maison in New Orleans with Jamil Sharrif last Monday. Warmdaddy killed it!! Francis Wong Unit tomorrow. Angel City Jazz Festival is coming up next month although I'm not excited about any of the performances really. May go check the Josh Johnson concert

I think though that they're quite straightforward about it (though in my case it was a disc listed as "Audio CD" with no further comment, bought via one of those secondary vendors - but I guess it would have been the same had I ordered from Amazon themselves). Wasn't aware of New World doing the same though - I actually would still love to get the two Cecil Taylor albums, only have copies once provided by a friend. But replacing CDRs with CDRs would be a drag. I've got a copy of 3 Phasis if you're interested you can PM me.

Not sure if anyone has experience with 504 Records but the one title I have from them is a cd-r. Bought it from Louisiana Music Factory. Maybe jeffcrom would know if all their releases are cd-r? I'm heading to New Orleans next week and would like to pick up some more but not at the price they want if cd-r's.

Grace is phenomenal The Matador and The Bull and Victory are also very good imo. I haven't spent much time with I Am I Am, only streamed it. Same with Bloom. Honestly I felt his sound developed until it culminated into Grace and I'm waiting for him to head in a new direction. I haven't heard Graffiti yet though, but to me anyway, I feel artist get stuck in a rut on the Savant label and nothing new comes from artists that release multiple titles with them. I also have In Search Of... and enjoy it well enough. Nothing too provocative though to me.
