  1. They recently showed The Honeymoon Killers in the "Underground" series. I never thought I'd see that film on TV!
  2. Since I've still got Roots Of A Revolution, I can't see my way clear to getting this new set.

I'm sure glad Soul Station wasn't named Baghdad!
  4. Forgot to mention, Jean Simmons was also in the movie Angel Face (1952), an early Otto Preminger noir with Robert Mitchum. She was great in it.
  5. Will probably miss this tonight, but with any luck they'll repeat it sometime.
  6. Go get 'Singin' In The Rain' and watch You'll never regret it! YES!!! I never get tired of Donald O'Connor's Make 'em Laugh Or "Moses Supposes."
  7. I heard somewhere that someday the lion will lie down with it. (Not that I'm saying you should have a side dish of lion...)
  8. Here they go and honor "YOU" and I was hoping it would be "ME!" DAMN YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. On Sunday mornings I usually listen to some jazz. But I might listen to some classical, or country, or R&B. Anything good will do.
  10. Me too. Ten CD's is a Hell of a lot, but if I can find it at a yardsale or something...
  11. I use the internet, therefore I am.
  12. The fourth season is my favorite. What did you think of the episode with Jean Simmons? It was damn good, though I kind of got the feeling they were trying to do too much in 45 minutes. Who is Jean Simmons, out of curiosity -- I am not familiar with her. Guy She was born in England in 1929, played Ophelia in the 1948 Olivier version of Hamlet, came to Hollywood and had a few good roles in the 50's and early 60's but mostly her talents were underutilized. (I saw her recently in the 1958 western The Big Country; she was also in Elmer Gantry and Spartacus.) In her prime she reminds me a bit of Joan Greenwood. The episode she's in, "The Drumhead," (she plays admiral Nora Satie) strikes me as a perhaps obvious but very well done riff on McCarthyism.
  13. "Little Drummer Boy" ---any version. God, I hate that song. Always have, always will.
  14. ---The New York loft scene, for one. Thanks for the article 7/4, it was very interesting.
  15. Gee, thanks for sharing that. Nothing like too much information.
  16. I didn't know baritones were prone to explode.
  17. I've gotta get this! (GREAT thread, BTW. )
  18. Excellent advice. If he didn't actually invent the form, Haydn sure came close to it, and his voluminous repertoire is a constant joy. That's a big YES!
  19. The fourth season is my favorite. What did you think of the episode with Jean Simmons?
  20. How could they be that dumb? Oh, right, we're talking about Fox.
  21. They played that entire bit on Fresh Air yesterday. Never fails to crack me up. He was great in The Friends of Eddie Coyle, too. RIP
  22. Very sad news. My condolences to his family and friends.
  23. Happy birthday!
  24. The guy who played the whacky DJ originally appeared on a few episodes of The Bob Newhart Show as one of Bob's patients.
