  2. Jonas Kullhammar Quartet- A Love Supreme https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-ySyUMIfKQ
  3. Agree, that's a very fine GP album.
  4. Not sure how I stumbled on this thread but it's a good one! My rock oriented list below. Elvis Costello- Watching The Detectives Squeeze- Pulling Mussels (From The Shell) Pretenders- Mystery Achievement Rolling Stones- Respectable Talking Heads- Life During Wartime David Bowie- Stay The Clash- Know Your Rights Paul McCartney- Jet The Kinks- Victoria Bob Dylan- Idiot Wind
  5. Ordered this yesterday. My winter listening project!
  6. I always enjoy hearing Ron McClure. Also, not mentioned Torbjorn Zetterberg, Jonas Kullhammar's partner in crime.
  7. That's a nice explanation. I've actually experienced his effect as well. Not with a home hifi set up but rather with my bass and electric guitar rigs when using multiple gain stages. Seems totally plausible that the effect translates to consumer electronic products as well.
  8. You need to go start auditioning. That's when the real fun begins! Another brand you may want to consider is Monitor Audio. I've never heard their bookshelf speakers but the floorstanders I've heard delivered pretty darn good bang for the buck.
  9. You should check out B&W 685s. There is a redesigned version coming out very soon featuring trickle down tweeter technology from the CM10 speaker. The new model number is 685 S2. I've owned B&W 602s for a number of years. The 602s were the precursors to the 685s and frankly I've not heard a bookshelf speaker that can touch it under 2k. I paid about $850 with stands 6-7 years ago. Obviously this is all fairly subjective but you really should check out the 685s.
  10. A real shame. I enoyed many of his roles and always made it a point to see anything he was in.
  11. I love the first three albums. I think I recall reading the departure of their bassist resulted in their sudden decline. Lenny Kravitz. Can't help it, high school memories. The first three albums are excellent. I bought the recent 2-disc bonus versions of these albums. There's some good live tracks among the bonus material. Funny you mention the bass player since that's one of the main reasons I keep coming back to these albums. The bass lines are wicked good!
  12. Jamiroquai
  13. Just noticed that eMusic has both the electric and acoustic collections available for download. A quick search of Amazon didn't turn up any physical products. Given this development, I would bet that they will eventually be available as seperate CD box sets sometime in 2014 after the holidays.
  14. One a side note, over the last few days I've been transfering this music into my iTunes library and noticed instead of the actual album titles showing up when imported each album comes up as either The Acoustic Collection or The Electric Collection. I wonder if there are future plans to subdivide this music and release as two additional boxes with different target audiences? Stranger things have happened.
  15. Shorty Rogers. Specifically, Martians Go Home.
  16. Check out artists on the Moserobie label.
  17. I'm in at $187.32. It was $221 about a week ago on amazon.
  18. Philip Catherine- Moods (Volumes 1 & 2)
  19. Would love to see Kenny Barron in the piano chair. Some serious potential there for some great shows! Not holding my breath on this though.
  20. Just signed up. Very much looking forward to this!
  21. I've seen first hand young children (2-3 yrs. old) on a number of occasions reacting to both Monk and Roland Kirk's music very positively. Pretty cool, but unfortunately they tend to grow out of it. One can only hope that some kind of seed has been planted.
