  1. Surprising, considering I was told by the good folks at Dusty Groove that Chicago's postal service is known to be among the worst in the nation. I guess I have fairly reasonable expectations that are always surpassed.
  2. Constantly amazed by the good service I receive. The logistics are mind boggling to me. No complaints- not one.
  3. Those are two really fine sets. You'll be happy with both.
  4. A contemporary guitarist well worth checking out. http://havardstubo.com/
  5. Thanks for that. Cool to know. As an aside- I spend countless hours every winter on my rollers training for the upcoming cycling season and this CD has been my go to music for the last 5 weeks or so. Great album front to back. Thanks for the music!
  6. Just wondering, would it make sense for you as a producer to use a Kiskstarter type model for these potential new projects?
  7. That's really good news! I've been enjoying this one immensely, have played it at least 20 times in the last month.
  8. Too many excellent leader dates for me to pick a favorite. As a sideman however, I would highly recommend Stanley Turrentine's Hustlin'. Kenny totally locks in with Shirley Scott and the results are a clinic in creating soulful grooves.
  9. I'm very surprised no one has mentioned this one yet but Herbie's Chameleon (15+) also came immediately to mind when is saw this thread.
  10. First thing that came to mind was "Orange Was the Color of Her Dress, Then Silk Blue"- Mingus (approx. 18 min.)

I'll be purchasing this set. Thanks for the heads up.
  12. Sounds great! I'll back this project. As far as songs go I have to second The Yodel. Also would like to see you cover Seven Steps To Heaven. Just because.
  13. Love Jimmy Garrison! Also very impressed by the little bit of Matthew Garrison that I've heard on Herbie's Future2Future Live DVD.
  14. When a musician or group nonchalantly take the stage and then proceed to raise the roof!
  15. the fact that they're not already in there tells you all you need to know. About everything! So far under the radar you need sonar!
  16. Keef- Hate It When You Leave from Main Offender
  17. I liked his first two solo albums quite a bit (Talk Is Cheap and Main Offender). There not masterpieces by any means but the grooves are very strong and the players are top notch as you point out. Speaking of solo albums, I've actually been listening to Mick's solo album Wandering Spirit lately, it holds up pretty well. Much better than critics give it credit for. But I digress...
  18. That's mine as well. The local AOR station (WXRT 93.1 Chicago) played this quite often when I was becoming interested in music.
  19. Haven't seen that in years - Thanks! Sure. My pleasure to dig that up and watch it as well.
  20. Chuck's Real Son (Artistically Speaking)
