MLB 2014 Season - Always Take Your Glove To The Ballpark!
Brad replied to JSngry's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Terrible on so many levels. Sour grapes from a Rangers fan. Angels eased up on the gas after winning the West and were never the same, not to mention that not having Garrett Richards, one of the best pitchers in baseball this year, hurt them. They were never able to replace the starting pitching they lost. -
Incredibly sorry to hear this. As others said, his blog was fantastic.....and thorough. Moreover, he was way too young. What a loss.

This will be the first Mosaic I've ordered in a very long time. When I got the email yesterday, my first reaction was "Wow!" Obviously have all the Bird but getting it anyway. Sweet.

With the discontinuance, people are looking to make a quick buck. My son's iPod was stolen so we looked around this weekend until we were informed it had been discontinued. I have one but haven't used it much lately. I looked online at Amazon and eBay and sellers (speculators) went out and purchased remaning stock and are trying to sell them at $400 to $500. That's a joke. As I don't use mine much, I gave him mine. If I feel the need to replace mine, I will wait a few months until the fever dies down.

10,000 posts...only took me 11 years.

Indeed! At my rate it will take me another 11 years to get to 10G. -
I missed that one but a good book on the financial crisis (although there are a lot if them and I've been told there are better books) is The Sellout by Charles Gasparino. The fall of Bear Stearns and their appetite for risk figures prominently in the book.

How to contact Sony re a problem with a boxed set?
Brad replied to mjzee's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I've had this happen in other spheres and the whole thing gets replaced. Can't remember what it was but it's not a corporate world mentality. It's called quality control. -
Reminded me of Boiler Room in certain respects but thought it faithfully reproduced the attitude.

the complete jazz at the philharmonic 1944-49 on verve

Going back to the original question, I do feel it's a must buy as it showchases these legendary concerts and almost brings you into the concert house. Now, is it something I listen to all the time? No, but glad I have it. -
MLB 2014 Season - Always Take Your Glove To The Ballpark!

besides the injury possibility, it's not faster either. None of these guys every learn. It's not the proper way to slide into any base. -
Completely agree. That's the first thing that came to mind when I saw this thread.

Back in the 60s, when I used to visit my Grandmother in NYC, we would watch Lawrence Welk together. Since she would bake my favorite cookies, I couldn't say no. The Basie clip is cool.

I know it's a corny song but I always liked Act Naturally.

I've heard the Drive My Car version before from the Love videos above but the others are new to me and prefer the original. These don't do much for me. Like 'em the way I heard them.

Thanks for the feedback. I have the mono set and was happy with that. I grew up overseas and so had the UK versions, which always had more songs than a US version. However, I did have a couple of US versions and they didn't sync. For example, I had the UK version of the Stones' Between the Buttons (one of my favorite Stones albums) and when I saw the US version, my reaction was that they dropped a couple of songs. As far as favorite albums, The White Album is a group that can't get along. Not really an album. Don't think they made it together. However, does have some interesting sons. They were at the top with Rubber Soul, Revolver and Sgt. Peppers. Having said that I love all the albums. It's like saying which Rembrandt you like the most and least. Can't go wrong.

I received an email from the Beatles saying the US Albums are due out today, as follows: "The new 13CD Beatles collection spanning 1964’s Meet the Beatles! To 1970’s Hey Jude has been released and mastered for iTunes. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of The Beatles first visit to the USA, The U.S. Albums, a new 13CD Beatles collection spanning 1964's Meet The Beatles! to 1970's Hey Jude, are released by Apple Corps Ltd. / Capitol." I don't know if this has been discussed before but how do these differ from the box they re-did in Mono a few years ago, or is this just another money grab.

I thought it was a rather stupid article. -
Guess I will bite the bullet!

Marlon Byrd is hardly a template. The Phillies overpaid at $8 million per for a 36 year old. Mets have a catcher and although Hawkins had a nice stint as a closer he was nothing special in other roles an terrible the year before with the Angels. They got lucky with him. Bullpen help can always be located. Is Cano realistic? No, but they do have plenty of money freed up. It will just depend on Sandy and his master plan.

That's on my holiday list along with the Duke Pearson.

Although KC may not have played great teams, they are 9-1. That, in and of itself, is impressive. Much better than 2-14. Yeah, I watched last night's game. Cam is becoming a good QB and in certain respects reminds me of Randall Cunningham. Pats probably got screwed at the end with that no pass interference call. That call was right but holding could have been called, giving them one more play.
