  1. Thanks. Will keep an eye on the Elemental Music site. Thanks for the links! Boy, wish I could listen to this right now
  2. I work for the company that used to own Brachs. We sold it in 1986 as it no longer fit the profile; we wanted to focus on becoming a pharma company. Anyway, when we got ready to sell it, I headed out to Chicago, where the plant was located, to do due diligence. Every office had a bowl of candy, which people kept refilling. The plant had the sick sweet smell of candy being made. When we went down to the cafeteria near the manufacturing area, the smell was overpowering but you got used to it after a couple of days. For years, we could buy the candy in our company store at discount prices.
  3. The Brookmeyer is a great select.
  4. I was never a big fan in the 60s but now when I hear their stuff on the 60s station on XM, I realize how good they were. With age comes knowledge
  5. The team that doesn't know how to say no. Based on a stat they showed last night, they have a 67% chance of winning the WS. Amazing story.
  6. That is a heck of a story. Thanks for sharing it. Does anyone know how and where to order the set coming out in January?
  7. What's funny is that if someone reports them, their listings will be pulled. When you sell on eBay, you can't refuse to accept PayPal. eBay put this rule in place years ago, shortly after they bought Paypal. Wonder if this will change now that they're spinning off PayPal.
  8. Fear: A Novel of World War I by Gabriel Chevalier.
  9. The dress made of pasta reminds me of the ad currently on TV about bacon.
  10. We'll find out tonight if Cinderella turns back into a pumpkin or however the story goes
  11. The amount of information out there about ourselves is scary. Just google yourself and you'll be shocked by the results.
  12. I'm wondering what is the overall verdict. If the sound is crappy, I may want to cancel the order.
  13. I thought the allusion to classical music interesting. I don't pretend to be knowledgeable in classical music but don't many conductors play it note by note?
  14. You seem fixated on making fun of her with your photos of other women. It comes of as sexist, not to mention mean spirited. Sad.
  15. Some good hits, Kicks most notably. Other than that.....
  16. Terrible on so many levels. Sour grapes from a Rangers fan. Angels eased up on the gas after winning the West and were never the same, not to mention that not having Garrett Richards, one of the best pitchers in baseball this year, hurt them. They were never able to replace the starting pitching they lost.
  17. Incredibly sorry to hear this. As others said, his blog was fantastic.....and thorough. Moreover, he was way too young. What a loss.
  18. This will be the first Mosaic I've ordered in a very long time. When I got the email yesterday, my first reaction was "Wow!" Obviously have all the Bird but getting it anyway. Sweet.
  19. With the discontinuance, people are looking to make a quick buck. My son's iPod was stolen so we looked around this weekend until we were informed it had been discontinued. I have one but haven't used it much lately. I looked online at Amazon and eBay and sellers (speculators) went out and purchased remaning stock and are trying to sell them at $400 to $500. That's a joke. As I don't use mine much, I gave him mine. If I feel the need to replace mine, I will wait a few months until the fever dies down.
  20. If you think you have too many records, read this article, http://www.nytimes.com/2014/08/10/magazine/the-brazilian-bus-magnate-whos-buying-up-all-the-worlds-vinyl-records.html?ref=magazine&_r=0, and you'll be able to relax
  21. Indeed! At my rate it will take me another 11 years to get to 10G.
  22. I missed that one but a good book on the financial crisis (although there are a lot if them and I've been told there are better books) is The Sellout by Charles Gasparino. The fall of Bear Stearns and their appetite for risk figures prominently in the book.
  23. I've had this happen in other spheres and the whole thing gets replaced. Can't remember what it was but it's not a corporate world mentality. It's called quality control.
  24. Reminded me of Boiler Room in certain respects but thought it faithfully reproduced the attitude.
