I saw Harold and Eric Alexander a few years ago -- just the two of them -- and it was great. Got my photo taken with Harold.

Albert Murray has checked out

Obviously he was controversial; just read the posts here. However, that shouldn't prevent us from saying Rest in Peace for a productive life. -
Marc Myers had a nice remembrance over at Jazz Wax, http://www.jazzwax.com/2013/08/marian-mcpartland-1918-2013.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Jazzwax+%28JazzWax%29

Jazz wax highlighted Bev Kelly and Pat Moran last night. Check them out.

She and Steve Lawrence were a heck of great entertainers.

Think we all need to relax a little about this. -
Oh definitely. I picked the Nats to win the division. I thought they would win a 100 games this season. It was definitely a WS or bust season for them. You have to wonder if last year was their best shot. You have to wonder if they regret shutting down Strasberg. Sometimes, when you have a shot you have to go for it.
-
The disappointment of the Division has to be the Nats. Phillies should be better and Mets are around where they should be (a little better actually than people thought) but everyone expected Nats to be one of the best teams in the League, let alone the Division.
-
NL East must be the most pathetic division right now. Braves are 15.5 games ahead of the Nats. You can declare that division race over.

I like Aloc's posts. He posts some interesting stuff. If you don't want to read them, skip 'em. Why did Chris quit? -
I was a little surprised that Sagan won only one stage. Thought there would be a lot more. He was basically out of the money in Paris.
-
I found it to be rather enjoyable this year and loved the splash Nairo Quintana made. The day he won the 20th Stage was also Independence Day so it was a double celebration.

I like piano trios but not Bud except for Bud Powell. He did some nice trios

Yucky! but probably not as bad as Friday here in NJ when it was in the mid 90s.
-
I assume this is written only from the perspective of a listener, not an artist contemplating whether or not to make a trio recording.

I live and work outside of NY now, although I lived and worked in NY from 1980 until 1993 when the company I worked for moved to NJ, and from my perspective NY is an infinitely better place in the last 20 years than before. Now, if you want to say it's in spite of Guiliani rather than because of him, I really don't know. However, like it or not, the person who is in charge when good or bad things happen gets the credit or the blame, as the case may be.

I can't speak for most but I have many of their BN recordings, some from US issue, some from Japan and some thanks to Dan Gould. I hadn't talked to MC about more singles, more in the terms of a Mosaic or a Select. Just didn't work out.

Angels beating the As. Go Halos!!!!

Years ago on a trip to Mosaic, I talked to him about the Sounds. At the time he said he was trying to figure out a way to reissue some material, maybe as a Select. I didn't feel he had a bias. He was probably more concerned about sales, not an unrealistic concern.

That's part of the beauty of going to a game. A relaxing time.

That's quite a story by Bret Primack but a very good practice he picked up along the way: separating the music from the person.

I have his Tadd's Delight. Pretty good although I haven't played it too many times.
