  1. Many of the people over there are overly fixated on the minutest of issues. The Classics series has re-issued some rare recordings. I tend to purchase more of that series than TPs, which I mostly have in cd and are fine for me.

    RSD Releases

The RSD blurb says “While these tracks have previously appeared on other albums, this is the first time they have been gathered in one package.”

    RSD Releases

Albert Ayler - Europe 1966, from Org Chet Baker - Chet, from Craft. First time in mono in a long time. Chet Baker - Blue Room: The 1979 Vara Studio Sessions In Holland, from Anagram Miles Davis - TURNAROUND: Unreleased Rare Vinyl from On The Corner Bill Evans - Treasures Solo, Trio & Orchestra In Denmark 1965-1969, from Anagram Records (looks to be part of Elemental Records) Charlie Parker - Afro Cuban Bop: The Long Lost Bird Live Recordings, from Liberation Hall/Rockbeat. Max Roach and Archie Shepp - Force - Sweet Mao - Suid Afrika 76, from LMLR Archie Shepp - Live at Massy, from LMLR Sonny Stitt - The Bubba Sessions Sonny Stitt - Boppin’ in Baltimore, from Anagram. Mastered by Bernie Grundman The Bird one doesn’t look like anything special: a compilation of previously released sessions. There are also a couple of Muddy Water releases that look interesting.
  4. Another one to buy.
  5. I’m in for this.
  6. I have Mad About Tadd on cd. It’s phenomenal.
  7. I had one case like that: the cd case was damaged, the tray card slightly damaged and the booklet crushed at the top. I contacted Mosaic and they will be sending replacements. From what Scott said this doesn’t look like an isolated problem so you should contact them.
  8. That was the worst I’d seen.
  9. Terrific. I’d have to disagree. Alfie and East Broadway Rundown came after that, to name two.
  10. Mine as well.
  11. The partnership with Hal David and Dionne Warwick produced memorable songs. RIP.
  12. In principle yes but litigation is expensive and the amount of copies they’ve made may not be worth the cost and bother. @Fer UrbinaSince BN is probably a division within UMG, they probably have their own division counsel who handles day to day matters but litigation would, in all likelihood, be handled by corporate. Saleswise, they may have become bigger due to the popularity of the TP and Classics series
  13. Papa Joe Jones called him one of the greatest drummers who ever lived.
  14. You’re not the only one. I stuck my hand under the cd as far as it could go so it wouldn’t break. So far I’ve been lucky.
  15. Levy talks about Ike Day who is considered one of the greatest drummers of all time and who I had never heard of. @Larry Kartwhat do you know about him?
  16. JazzWax had an article on Green this week. https://www.jazzwax.com/2023/02/backgrounder-urbie-green-persuasive-trombone-.html
  17. Andy Kirk Jr. is mentioned quite a bit in Saxophone Colossus.
  18. Which ones did you think were bad. I haven’t purchased any in a long time because I didn’t see the point of replicating what I have in cd.
  19. If you have a catalogue number you could put it in the search bar at Discogs and probably get your answer.
  20. I’m 100 pages into it and enjoying it so far. The Dragon record of his 1959 performance in Stockholm is one to grab too.
