  1. This is one of those gray market releases, not based on the original tapes. According to Discogs, it’s a mixture of Jazzland and Prestige: Tough Tenors Griff and Lock The Tenor Scene Live the First Set Live the Midnight Show Live the Late Show Looking at Monk Blues Up and Down This one is good, sort of in the same vein: Johnny Griffin and Eddie Lockjaw Davis Quitent – At Onkel Po’s Carnegie Hall – NDR Info (N 77046) Not Davis and Griffin but Davis and Shirley Scott but Craft is issuing this next year: https://craftrecordings.com/collections/eddie-lockjaw-davis/products/eddie-lockjaw-davis-cookin-with-jaws-and-the-queen-the-legendary-prestige-cookbook-albums-4-cd
  2. She knows how to play but from what I know she did get commercial, trying to be more of a crowd pleaser and appealing to a wider audience (not that there’s anything wrong with that). I believe there is a thread or two about her.
  3. This Japanese seller, Jazzbluesjapan, who sells on eBay, has a lot of good used jazz. He describes what he sells pretty well. He tends to have a lot of BN and Prestige. I’ve used him a bit and he ships everything DHL. https://www.ebay.com/itm/185714465812?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=CLw6lga9Qa2&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=8Clsqs3wSRS&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  4. What I find a bit amusing is that some listeners felt the need to create a separate thread because they wanted to keep the TP thread positive. Seriously?
  5. I’m almost done with the first season. By the way, have you seen Spiral. That is probably one of my favorite all time shows.
  6. “A French Village” on MHZ.
  7. I haven’t been purchasing any TPs lately, not because of quality issues, but because I have on cd the records they’ve been issuing and I don’t see the point of duplication, even though they may sound a little better. I’ve actually purchased more Classics for that reason and I haven’t had any quality issues.
  8. Especially after eating a lot when you’re as tight as a fiddle.
  9. So basically, if you have problems playing this... Blue Note doesn't care. Why should they care if you have played thousands of records fine? If you can't play this record, it's your fault, not theirs. That's really great news for those customers who can't play it. I'm glad I bought the Pure Pleasure LP of this title a few years ago. That’s completely effed up. Glad I have the cd. Too bad that instead of talking about a great recording, people are left with a sour experience.
  10. Tonight it will be 10. Better than last night. Still need to do a wash. However, it’s warming up overnight. It’s a heat wave!
  11. Very. 4 degrees here last night. As the pipes for the washing machine can get frozen when it hits single digits, I did a wash last night at 1am.
  12. Beyond excellent!
  13. I love those Verve reissues from the 70s. Great album jackets too. Recently listened to:
  14. The other day.
  15. Review by Ben Ratliff in The NY Times. The Sound of Sonny “Aidan Levy has written a revealing, comprehensive biography of the improviser-hero Sonny Rollins.”
  16. One of the commentators mentioned that Lloris is not comfortable doing PK shootouts and it showed. Martinez was up for the challenge.
  17. Glad to help. Just starting this:
  18. I have almost next to nothing of this JATP period so I’m looking forward to it. It’s not the kind of set I’d sit down and listen to straight through. I rarely do that with Mosaics anyway.
  19. First time I’ve preordered in many years. I feel this one may go quickly.
  20. My feeling is that because it’s JATP, they expect this one to do well.
  21. Sorry I didn’t reply. The sound is great. I can’t say I’m the biggest Oscar fan but I enjoyed this one a lot. According to the liner notes this was only the second recording of this trio of Oscar, NHOP and Louis Hayes.
