  1. It’s back now, fortunately. I was worried it was gone for good.

You have to tune it out. Maybe like Jim says, it’s a process. This is not a Bird recording but I have Barry Harris’ Bird of Red and Gold on Xanadu. Thought I had a terrible pressing but when I heard the memorial broadcast on WKCR on Saturday theirs was just as bad but the defects didn’t bother me because the music is glorious. You have to separate the two.
  3. That was pretty terrific. WKCR ran a 12 hour memorial broadcast yesterday. I listened to a good part of it and they played selections from First Time Ever and Live at Dugs, which were unknown to me. They also played a 1975 interview with Phil Schaap, recorded during a Coleman Hawkins birthday broadcast. Lost a lot of greats this year.
  4. Obituary by Mark Stryker. Barry Harris, beloved jazz pianist devoted to bebop, dies at 91
  5. Indeed. He’s probably one of my three or five favorite pianists. He leaves an amazing legacy. 91 years young. RIP.

It’s impossible to know. Some artists do care, others don’t. Their legacies aren’t negatively affected by these releases. I’m glad I have the Benedetti. Bird’s playing at the Three Deuces and Onyx Club is quite strong
  7. See https://www.discogs.com/sell/list?master_id=1227336&ev=mb Only two US sellers; the grading from one seller isn’t great and the other has a plethora of negatives.
  8. If you go to individual websites it will still show the Indians name, such as baseball-reference.com These sort of things don’t perturb me. I guess the Indians have been cancelled

    “Bird In LA”

I just cracked open my set and on the second side of LP1 at the end (Salt Peanuts) there is a gouge or indentation. I played that cut and it played fine, fortunately. What annoys me however is that each of the LPs are placed in a jacket with no sleeve to protect the record. I immediately put mine into one of those rice sleeves. I’d contact the shop where you bought it from for starters. I doubt you’ll be able to get a replacement disc but I’d try nonetheless.
  10. I’m generally with David on this one. I think the Union should have a say; they are the sport. I believe that in other countries the unions have a seat on the Board of Directors.
  11. Will we still be saying that in 10 years time? When the Covid news is bad and the market does poorly, Pfizer goes up, and vice versa.
  12. I must have not read the email as they have already left the premises. Even though they’ve sold Mosaic Images that doesn’t mean they can’t license them back for any future BN sets. I assume BN pays a licensing fee when they use the photos on the Tone Poets and BN Classics series, unless there’s a licensing agreement already in place.
  13. Wikipedia is handy as a first step into finding about a topic but I don’t consider it reliable.
  14. I don’t remember seeing an email about an open house. Any idea when that is. Now would be a good time.
  15. One of my earliest CDs. Just amazing stuff. Need to do a re-listen, like today!
  16. Well, on the day I posted it went down 900 points. Yesterday wasn’t a great day either although stock futures look good this morning. Pfizer had a great month as their stock hasn’t been this high since the early 90s.
  17. It’s time to say “Good night”
  18. Maybe. Just “Imagine” that!

    “Bird In LA”

Cd Japan is showing it as in stock.
  20. They didn’t get back together: this is a documentary of the making of the Let it Be record in 1969, based on footage that was given by Apple to Peter Jackson.
