Dixie Stompers being Fletcher Henderson's Orchestra and Jimmy better know as James P. The latter judging by Rust appears to have alternated between James P and Jimmy. Henderson used other names presumably for contractual reasons (Connies Inn etc). Nice sides.

I've used SAL and seem to get discs to UK in about 7-10 days, it's cheaper than Airmail (500 yen vs. 750 yen for 1 CD) and only slightly slower. Packaging always the same b℗mb-proof standard.

spun to two recent sides by vaudeville performer Emmett Miller I ain't gonna give nobody none of this Jelly Roll - ------(Parlophone) UK R2163 The Ghost of St Louis Blues---------------------------------(Parlophone) UK R1138 Wilton Crawley and Chocolate Dandies feature on the reverse sides of these two. These two sides are all I have by Miller but they do suggest he was a good performer and worth listening to. Miller has a pleasant slightly nasal delivery of his yodel / bluesy vocal style. Nice jazzy band backs him up.

I'd not played this one until today and it's the first of this WPCR-27xxx series I don't care for. In part it's Rosolino's singing and the sound is a touch on the harsh side. All sounds a bit too much like a shouting match. What you need is one of these, perfect for picnics (at this time of year?) I'm tempted to get one myself before they close but I do have a lot of other gadgets already

The shelves on my local 78 shop yesterday. Sadly they're closing down in just over a month and going on-line only. Can't think I'd buy any shellac by mail order. Too precarious.

Have to agree that that definitely applies to most Atlantics I have heard. "London" Atlantics and are a pretty good and cheaper option (usually)

Irabagon's Foxy disc was poorly judged other than the funny cover photo and tune titles. The music was pointless.

I bet those Bud sides sound fabulous heard on 78. I'd be a happy camper to find those.

I too thought this about the real Duke. Can't think of any reasons to hate EKE.

Mine arrived safe and well. Much to listen to here. Made it through to disc 2 and the bonus disc . It'll need plenty of time.

i know her name handful but other than a handful of sides with Lars Gullin, she's a known unknown for me.

nice looking set , i think i've too much of its contents already to make any sense getting it.

At the "Quintet in San Francisco" recorded at the Jazz Workshop (Riverside) was my starting point and still amongst my favourite.

European Improv has to be the hardest genre to 'get'. I'm not sure I've managed to, however I have enjoyed trying Evan Parker et al and the last way I would describe his music would be cold or mechanical. I like variety in what I listen to and I like to be taken out of my comfort zone to gain as wide an appreciation for the music. That's why I like jazz.

My UK edition of Agharta is nice and sober with orange labels . It also has great sound.
