It did say I had 300 free points as a new customer but would not allow me to apply the points to my first order. But again, how many points does it take to buy cds? Also, did you see my question about shipping costs and whether the number of cds has anything to do with it? thanks Each point is one yen ( I think) . For shipping to the UK the cost varies with CD numbers. I don't recall seeing a listing of shipping charges bit I worked it out by adding CDs to a draft order and seeing what happened to the shipping. For me SAL is the most cost effective option mainly because customs charges pretty much force me to order single CDs.

I realised that too late and lost a bunch !

Brew Moore----- Svinget 14--------(Trio) Japanese reissue.

Dixie Stompers ----------- Spanish Shawl / Clap hands here comes Charley--------( Harmony) USA 70 H Jimmy Johnson------------ Go Harlem/ Just a crazy song-------------------------------( Columbia) USA 2448 D Two recent 78s each sporting a nom de guerre. Dixie Stompers being Fletcher Henderson's Orchestra and Jimmy better know as James P. The latter judging by Rust appears to have alternated between James P and Jimmy. Henderson used other names presumably for contractual reasons (Connies Inn etc). Nice sides.

I've used SAL and seem to get discs to UK in about 7-10 days, it's cheaper than Airmail (500 yen vs. 750 yen for 1 CD) and only slightly slower. Packaging always the same b℗mb-proof standard.

Bobby Jaspar & "Henry" Renaud Quintet-------(Vogue) UK 10inch

These end up pretty dear shipped one at a time to UK at around £14 a shot. I've ordered Bill Hardman's "Jackie's Pal" which I've not got already. Some temptation regarding Rollins titles but I'm pretty happy with the Prestige box set.

spun to two recent sides by vaudeville performer Emmett Miller I ain't gonna give nobody none of this Jelly Roll - ------(Parlophone) UK R2163 The Ghost of St Louis Blues---------------------------------(Parlophone) UK R1138 Wilton Crawley and Chocolate Dandies feature on the reverse sides of these two. These two sides are all I have by Miller but they do suggest he was a good performer and worth listening to. Miller has a pleasant slightly nasal delivery of his yodel / bluesy vocal style. Nice jazzy band backs him up.

I'd not played this one until today and it's the first of this WPCR-27xxx series I don't care for. In part it's Rosolino's singing and the sound is a touch on the harsh side. All sounds a bit too much like a shouting match. Frank Rosolino ---------Turn me loose--------(Reprise) WPCR 27233 On the other hand this sounds well balanced, driving but not in any way fatiguing Clarke/ Boland band --------Jazz is universal------(Atlantic) Both do these are Euro-Japanese issues ( for what it's worth)

What you need is one of these, perfect for picnics (at this time of year?) I'm tempted to get one myself before they close but I do have a lot of other gadgets already

The shelves on my local 78 shop yesterday. Sadly they're closing down in just over a month and going on-line only. Can't think I'd buy any shellac by mail order. Too precarious.

Have to agree that that definitely applies to most Atlantics I have heard. "London" Atlantics and are a pretty good and cheaper option (usually)

Red Nelson-------Crying mother blues/ Streamline train------(Brunswick UK) ex Decca Cripple Clarence Lofton accompanies on piano. CMB is a great blues.
-
Rex Stewart--------- Boy means horn/ Don’t get around much anymore-------( Blue Star) France BS 66m Rex very much in an Ellingtonian mood. Recorded Paris December 1947.

That's the edition I have. It sounds very good.

I did, for sure. i think this is much better than many would have you believe. At least I like it.

Rosa Henderson------Papa will be gone/ I’m a good gal---------------------( Brunswick) USA 2589 Edith Dunn------------- Evil Blues/ Pensacola Blues -----------------------------(Columbia) USA A 3746 Clara Smith ------------Prescription for the blues/ Death letter blues ------(Columbia) USA 14045 Just finished cleaning then spinning todays pick-ups. All equally fine blues.

Bought today, light scuffs but plays very nicely. Turns out on getting home that I've all the material on 78 already. I'll be careful not to buy the SHM-CD .

Irabagon's Foxy disc was poorly judged other than the funny cover photo and tune titles. The music was pointless.

I bet those Bud sides sound fabulous heard on 78. I'd be a happy camper to find those.

19 Questions to Determine if You Hate Duke
Clunky replied to GA Russell's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I too thought this about the real Duke. Can't think of any reasons to hate EKE. -
Mine arrived safe and well. Much to listen to here. Made it through to disc 2 and the bonus disc . It'll need plenty of time.

i know her name handful but other than a handful of sides with Lars Gullin, she's a known unknown for me.

Which Jazz box set are you grooving to right now?
Clunky replied to Cliff Englewood's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
nice looking set , i think i've too much of its contents already to make any sense getting it. -
At the "Quintet in San Francisco" recorded at the Jazz Workshop (Riverside) was my starting point and still amongst my favourite.
