  1. Every GB performance I've seen (two with Pat Metheny in clubs) has been wonderful. We spent a small fortune on our remodeling project so concerts are off the table now but seeing him again at Blues Alley would be a fitting goodbye. He's doing the right thing going out with all faculties intact. Seeing a recent show by McCoy Tyner was just the opposite and very sad.
  2. We listened to the cd last night. Honestly, this has been done by various artists before so I wasn't sure what to expect....no worries, Jim and crew give the listener a fresh take on classic Beatles. A very enjoyable cd and I like the cover!
  3. Major loss for me. One of my favorite artists in any genre but glad I saw him in a variety of settings.
  4. Woody on its way along with the Art Farmer disc which Scott was kind enough to discount so put me at the free shipping mark!
  5. Thanks all. Might have to grab this one.
  6. Any comments on the Woody Herman select?
  7. Yes, get the Vegas and NY sets in that order before this but I like it.
  8. Best sounding version?
  9. I see the 2016 fundraising goal has been met and congrats on that. I'm glad folks here put their money where their mouth is! Me included.
  10. A recent concert with his big band revealed an artist still full of life and a master composer. I got him to sign his autobiography and pose for a pic afterwards. Happy birthday!
  11. He was a local so I was able to see him a couple of times and enjoyed the shows. His brother and accompanist Joe was an underrated player, IMO. The Bossa Nova Years was a later release (1991) that I enjoy. If you have surround sound capability the DSD multi channel issue is well worth seeking out.
  12. I bought the HR download and will listen when my spouse is out Thursday.
  13. Shank ,Bud – Bossa Nova Years (Ubatuqui) 2CD Clare Fischer $10 Hicks Music in the Key of Clark $7
  14. Beautiful music would be my comment. Congrats to board member David Weiss and the group for another fine recording. I'm listening to the HR download which is quite nice. Bravo!
  15. I preordered it from sinatra.com for the postcards. I have some of this but enough I don't have to warrant a purchase.
  16. I saw Janiva recently and thought the same thing but enjoyed her opening set for the great Charlie Musselwhite who was in terrific form.
  17. Thanks for the information. I see you can buy the mp3 for $8.49 from Amazon.
  18. Kick myself I never saw her live and I live in the DC area.
  19. Isn't there supposed to be a concert from a club in NYC circa 1965 released?
  20. I've seen Williams a few times with his quartet and with various Jimmy Heath incarnations. A fine player and yes, he plays drums and he ain't bad. He told me once he would rather be a drummer than a trumpet player. I haven't seen him around DC lately.
  21. I'm REALLY enjoying this set. As good as the live mosaic box, IMHO, and the sound is quite good.
  22. Bill's an engaging gentleman. We enjoyed seeing him this past NYE and I look forward to Jim's recording.
  23. I'm here for what it's worth.
