I really brought up the whole Santana-influenced-by-Trane thing just to challenge the rather narrow-minded (not to mention unfair) notion that Carlos is to be considered and labeled as yet another "rock" guitarist who plays "rock" guitar, and therefore ought to be kept on that "rock" shelf and not considered for more interesting recipes besides "rock" soup (sheesh, I must be getting hungry again).

I bought the Malo box set which I enjoy-very well mastered as well. To me, they suffered from constant personnel changes including vocalists and "borrowing" Carlos licks at times. Enjoyable listening all the same. Borboletta probably my favorite Santana album. It was mixed in quad so a surround release would be nice but I doubt it will ever happen.

Ok not great. Too sanitized for my taste and few truly callous comments.

Any thoughts on the Van Cliburn complete album collection box? i saw one at a good price.

Do Hampton's vocals detract from the quality of this set? Reviews on the site were mixed about this.

The whole thing is just sad. A great talent who died way too young.

Somewhat hard to find and a bit pricey, the DCC gold disc Seattle 57 concert mastered by Steve Hoffman is highly recommended.

Mercer set is a favorite. Highly recommended!
