  1. Somewhere on Miles' Plugged Nickel set you can hear the cash register.
  2. Give Liriano credit too, no-hitter for 8.
  3. Knock 'em dead Shawn, best of luck to you and I'm happy to hear you're feeling better. It's also a cautionary about the tendencies of the medical profession to just drug people up.
  4. Gary Burton, also a fantastic player.
  5. Unless you're the one who got plunked, I'd reserve judgement about how much it hurt. This isn't soccer or the NBA where guys are diving like they were Greg Louganis. I saw a quick replay of it and it looked light it may have hit his hip. If that's the surgically repaired hip it might hurt like hell.
  6. Lauren Bacall Lauren Velez Lauren Graham
  7. Yanks getting pasted AGAIN by the Bosox. There are rumors that the Bosox might be interested in a rental of Jose Reyes, which would make a tough lineup possibly even more dangerous.
  8. I was listening to WKCR in the car today and the announcer(didn't get the name) was talking about Brotzmann and said that Brotzmann was like the Goose Gossage of improvised music, he came in and went full tilt every time. Great analogy IMO.
  9. Shawn, I send you my best wishes and I'd like to echo what others have said about your many positive contributions here. Please hang in there and hang on to hope- in the end that's what keeps us going sometimes.
  10. That was FUNKAY!!!
  11. Sadaharu Oh Sandra Oh O. Henry
  12. Jazzloft's prices are signifigantly higher than Amazon.fr
  13. Nolan Ryan didn't give him a jar of pickle juice?
  14. I recall in that time period seeing these releases in a number of stores in NYC and buying a bunch. There were also gigs galore. I recall seeing David Murray in a quartet with Blood Ulmer, WSQ, etc and I could have seen a bunch more if I had a few more $$ then.
  15. Mine(US release) has notes by Chick Corea.
  16. Kenny Barron lives in Brooklyn. A guy I know has been over his house a few times.
  17. Over at Hoffman they're reporting this and there seems to be confirmation in the thread from NPR: http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=252141
  18. Bump for eyeballs, folks, get those checks and Paypal $$$ flowing in so we can keep this as the great place it is.
  19. For me it's Twinings Earl Grey tea with some 1/2 & 1/2 and some Splenda. Hits that spot just right. Coffee I never warmed to. I used to work with a woman who said she liked her coffee like her men, black and strong.
  20. The guy at the deli counter at my local supermarket has a large 'Yankees Suck' button on his hat(He's a Met fan). I'm a Yankee fan and I get a good laugh out of it. That's another $2.15!
  21. Done, thanks for running such a great place!
  22. I'm 55 next month and was born in '56, well after Hiroshima/Nagasaki???!!!
  23. Yanks lose as R.A.Dickey discovers his good knuckleball after being terrible so far this season. Freddy Garcia pitches well but gets a loss. Another NY vs NY tomorrow...
  24. Anthony Brown's orchestra did a disc of all Monk: http://www.anthonybrown.org/cd_monks_moods.html
  25. I watched tne game last night and it didn't look to me that Colon was tired at all. He regularly hit 97 in the eigth and struck out the side(IIRC, two were looking on on some nasty pitches).he had one walk, but the walk looked like the ump was a little tight. He had only thrown 87 pitches, so it looked to me that he should have started the 9th and if any trouble bring in Mo. In this case I think Girardi went too much by the book and ignored what was right in front of him.
