How did you find your way to 'classical' music?
Tom 1960 replied to A Lark Ascending's topic in Classical Discussion
Paul, since it's been more than 5 years since you original post. What are your thoughts now? -
I have to admit maybe a bit embarrassed, to say I was unaware of the Jazz Workshop recordings on Columbia/Sony till a short time ago when I saw them siting in the bin at a local Bull Moose store. I'll guess I'll wait till it stops snowing before heading back?

At least 18 inches of snow over the weekend. Wind chills around 0 daytime, near 25 below at night. At least I'm off today for President's Day. This past week was probably one of the worst weeks I've worked in recent memory. 60 hours at least. Can't even begin to imagine what this week will bring.

Check out Amazon Canada. They have it @ CDN $64.82, which is US $52.05: http://www.amazon.ca/RCA-Living-Stereo-Collection-Volume/dp/B00GP8YHAU/ref=pd_sim_m_33?ie=UTF8&refRID=1Y5AWQ4Y15DK7RQEC8KY Thanks!!!

Too bad. Of all these mega sets, I think Living Stereo #1 and 2 are my favs. I really ought to buckle down and rip them, as I am sure I would play the material a bit more often. Probably the perfect project for these cold Canadian winters... I really enjoy Living Stereo Volume 1 and have thought many times of purchasing Vol. 2. I just can't seem to catch it at a decent selling price. If folks here become aware of a price break, please let me know? Damn, that looks good!

I recently was reading the Chet Baker bio "Deep In A Dream" and encountered some negative commentary here on the forum concerning the book. The main criticism was that the author focused a lot on Chet's drug issues and not much else. A good friend of mine pretty much said the same. I'll probably finish reading the book since I'm more than halfway through. But I can see what folks are saying. I was curious since I hardly would describe myself as any sort of expert. But would be in your minds other books I should steer clear of so I don't make the same mistake in the future. Also, why I'm at it, What would be a better alternative to the above Chet Baker bio? Thanks.

Since this thread is over 10 years old, I thought I would pose this question. Is "Hammer Of The Gods" still the go to book about Zeppelin? I'm looking to purchase a book on them.

I might be interested in the new Tim Warfield disc. I saw a Smalls gig last year when he and Terrell Stafford teamed up and they were on fire!

Enough fine playing by Carmel and Jimmy Heath to satisfy most tastes. Too bad Barry is a bit off key.

Another 6 inches or so today. Navigating the streets can be a challenge at times. The snow has nowhere to go. People getting pissed when I park the truck to get out and deliver the mail and there isn't much room to go around. One guy dropped the F-bomb on me yesterday.

My wife who knows little about football couldn't understand why they didn't attempt to run that play. Friggin' unbelievable.

Having to watch another minute of that god awful Super Bowl Half Time Show with Katy Perry.

The problem is that you have 2 feet at least on the ground already. People don't know where they're going to put all this shit. A winter storm warning is up for the entire day on Monday. -
6 more inches scheduled for later today on top of the 2 feet earlier in the week.

Begins tonight on WKCR New York 8 PM eastern to 7:45 PM Friday night. http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/wkcr/

Same here and I really wanted to attend this gig. The forecast here calls for something like 8 inches Friday on top of the 2 feet we already have. Then there is the chance of a major storm come Monday. Doesn't sound good. -
Thanks Paul.

Wells, Maine location. Plows just arrived and I have some shoveling, but minimal at this point. Two more storms on the way for Friday and Monday. Oh boy.

I shoveled a pathway in front and in the back of the house so the dogs could run out and do there business. Not even beginning to attempt to shovel the driveway since it's still snowing here and the drifts continue to pile up. I'm glad to be off this week. Latest calculation is about 2 feet.

Snakes!

A foot at least since 4 am this morning with 2 to 3 foot snow drifts. No hoax here.
-
10:30 PM and no snow yet. Winds are picking up though.
