  1. I recently was reading the Chet Baker bio "Deep In A Dream" and encountered some negative commentary here on the forum concerning the book. The main criticism was that the author focused a lot on Chet's drug issues and not much else. A good friend of mine pretty much said the same. I'll probably finish reading the book since I'm more than halfway through. But I can see what folks are saying. I was curious since I hardly would describe myself as any sort of expert. But would be in your minds other books I should steer clear of so I don't make the same mistake in the future. Also, why I'm at it, What would be a better alternative to the above Chet Baker bio? Thanks.
  2. Since this thread is over 10 years old, I thought I would pose this question. Is "Hammer Of The Gods" still the go to book about Zeppelin? I'm looking to purchase a book on them.
  3. I might be interested in the new Tim Warfield disc. I saw a Smalls gig last year when he and Terrell Stafford teamed up and they were on fire!
  4. Enough fine playing by Carmel and Jimmy Heath to satisfy most tastes. Too bad Barry is a bit off key.
  5. Another 6 inches or so today. Navigating the streets can be a challenge at times. The snow has nowhere to go. People getting pissed when I park the truck to get out and deliver the mail and there isn't much room to go around. One guy dropped the F-bomb on me yesterday.
  6. My wife who knows little about football couldn't understand why they didn't attempt to run that play. Friggin' unbelievable.
  7. Having to watch another minute of that god awful Super Bowl Half Time Show with Katy Perry.
  8. Now till 7PM eastern US. http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/wkcr/
  9. The problem is that you have 2 feet at least on the ground already. People don't know where they're going to put all this shit. A winter storm warning is up for the entire day on Monday.
  10. 6 more inches scheduled for later today on top of the 2 feet earlier in the week.
  11. Begins tonight on WKCR New York 8 PM eastern to 7:45 PM Friday night. http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/wkcr/
  12. Same here and I really wanted to attend this gig. The forecast here calls for something like 8 inches Friday on top of the 2 feet we already have. Then there is the chance of a major storm come Monday. Doesn't sound good.
  13. Wells, Maine location. Plows just arrived and I have some shoveling, but minimal at this point. Two more storms on the way for Friday and Monday. Oh boy.
  14. I shoveled a pathway in front and in the back of the house so the dogs could run out and do there business. Not even beginning to attempt to shovel the driveway since it's still snowing here and the drifts continue to pile up. I'm glad to be off this week. Latest calculation is about 2 feet.
  15. A foot at least since 4 am this morning with 2 to 3 foot snow drifts. No hoax here.
  16. 10:30 PM and no snow yet. Winds are picking up though.
  17. An article provided to me by Bill F from the Jazz Wax website: http://www.jazzwax.com/2015/01/boston-blizzard-of-78-playlist.html
  18. I happened to be by the stroke of good luck, on vacation this week. So I will avoid having to deal with the consequences of this huge storm at least when it comes to delivering the mail. The wife and I went out last night to the local grocery store and avoided all the mayhem going on right now. Forecasts are calling for up to 2 feet along the coastline here in Maine. Maybe more? Winds later tonight could exceed 50 mph with whiteout conditions. Power outages are expected. We're hoping for the best but prepared for the worst. The wife is scheduled to work tomorrow/Tuesday, but I'm not encouraging her to travel if the forecasts hold true. How are you guys in the effected areas handling this situation? Please stay safe.

  20. I thought folks here would be interested in this. The interview features Michael Brecker's widow, Susan. http://www.msnbc.com/morning-joe/watch/paul-simon--james-taylor-to-play-cancer-benefit-384232515964
  21. Kevin, let's stay in touch. It would be great if we could somehow meet up at the show.
  22. Michael, no promises but it looks like I may be able to attend. I'll have a better idea by the last week of January. What time is the show?
  23. Funny, I remember my dad hating that show for the reasons you described.
