  1. Got it today. Thanks for the recommendations, fellas. It's a good one!
  2. I had the good fortune to have listened to 3/4 of the Steely Dan retrospective 1972 - 1980 box set Saturday night on the way back to New York. That must have been one of my shortest rides back to NY since I moved to Maine 3 months ago. Great music. I couldn't help singing along. I guess I have to bring along "Two Against Nature" for the ride back? I also have to make a point of picking up the individual Fagan solo releases. "The Nightfly Trilogy" discs seem to be a bit out of my price range right now. I think I still own "The Nightfly" album on cassette? Anyways, great to come across this thread and see so much love for the Dan out there.
  3. Ralph Lalama and Bop Juice now till approx. 9:30 PM eastern time.
  4. Any thoughts on this session? I've had this release in my hands a number of times recently only to deposit it back in the bin. I already own a good number of Tommy's later dates in which I great enjoyment from hearing. Is this worth adding to the collection?
  5. I had the opportunity to hear a track off this upcoming release the other day and it definitely sounds like something I'm interested in hearing. Release date is June 3, I believe. From all accounts this is first time in over 30 years the guys have recorded together. Heads up fellas.
  6. I just read the review for Road Shows, Volume 3 in the latest issue of Down Beat and the reviewer gave it 5 stars!
  7. The George Burton Group with Tim Warfield and Terrell Stafford is smoking tonight. Stafford's playing is unbelievable. The guy could blow the roof off the joint if he wanted to. http://www.smallsjazzclub.com/indexnew.cfm?itemCategory=43179&siteid=272&priorId=0&banner=a
  8. I really enjoyed the first volume of the Living Stereo releases. Sorry to hear Volume 2 doesn't meet up with expectations. I may put that set on hold for now and perhaps opt for Volume 1 of the Mercury Living Presence box set instead. Any thoughts here?

    Sahib Shihab

    I enjoy this later session.
  10. Somebody should grab this. While I haven't played this in some time, I recall there being some nice playing by Harold Land on this set. I will dig this out later today.
  11. I was fortunate enough to score this set off eBay a couple weeks ago for just under $80. A great investment.
  12. I have to get my butt down to Boston and see the store now that I'm living in Maine and with the local Amtrak station right in town providing service to Boston.
  13. Belated Birthday wishes, Allen from your new neighbor down the road.
  14. I've been listening to this on WKCR's Jazz Profiles program and it sounds like a fine release. Very good sound quality with equally fine performances. What do you guys think?
  15. Thanks guys for the thumbs up. I'll be making a return trip soon.
  16. Somehow I think this Brown led date with Zoot Sims and a bunch of West Coasters has escaped me till now. I'll have to double check the collection, but I think not. I happened to come across this at a local Bull Moose music store for a relatively cheap price, used. What can you guys tell me about the date? Should I pick it up?
  17. I've always been grateful having the opportunity to post here and read the informative thoughts of the many people much more knowledgeable than myself. As for the many recommendations, count me in as another who has seen his bank accounts depleted. At least I'm enjoying the ride to bankruptcy.
  18. I was listening to Volume 4 on the way to meeting the wife In Massachusetts for lunch today and made me wish I had brought the entire set for the ride. What a joy listening to this music.
  19. Let me add, I own all of the Zoot Sims albums Kevin has listed. All worth owning, IMO.
  20. I just heard about his passing on Sirius XM the satellite channel. Supposedly one of the comedy channels is paying tribute to David tonight. Sad to hear of his passing.
  21. Jerry is ok by me. He once burned me the Jazz Profiles program on WKCR which featured 5 hours of the music of Frank Strozier.
  22. An earlier session I enjoy.
  23. Happy Birthday, Joe!
