Nice cd. Everyone plays well, shame some of the solos by Land and Jones are a little short, on the opening track especially, as both sound really hot on this date.
Asmall addition, I pulled out my old mono Impulse album yesterday. Sounds far better than the current cd.
This is a great music, if it's not in your collection get it.
I saw Chuck Mangione, with hat, at Ronnie Scott's in 1973. Mangione played flugel horn and piano, Gerry Neiwood (reeds), Al Johnson (bass) and Joe Lebarbara(drums). I rather enjoyed it.
I don't have this one. Sheppard created quite a stir when he came on the scene years ago. I've not heard that much of him in the meantime but I've never been really taken with his playing. I've noted his career move with some top bands with interest so he must have something. Sorry to say I've not found it yet.
Hanrahan played in London a while ago with many of these players. They made a pretty good sound. I think this is one for my wish list.
The first Conjure album was very tasty.
