  1. We are visiting SW US again this year. We are flying into Phoenix and will be heading south to Bisbee and Douglas but after that we aim to spend most of our time in New Mexico. We have some tourist guides but would anyone care to recommend some things which are not to be missed. Interesting towns, historic sites, scenic areas rather than galleries and museums.
  2. I'll have to dig out my old vinyl copy of this.
  3. I've had one overseas item go astray. I refunded the money (not a large amount) and made a claim on the UK postal service. They paid up. Another package was returned to me after two months as undeliverable despite the fact that the address was exactly as provided by the buyer. Both these items were going to eastern Europe! Two months seems a long time to me though but if the package was, say missent to another country or maybe directed to a surface route then it's not all that long. Of course as Flurin says it may be languishing somewhere. If you buyer has recourse through Paypal that's fine but if not, if it were me, I think I'd have to pay up after a reasonable amount of time.
  4. Occasionally it's appropriate to have a sample of an artists work. For instance the Keith jarrett Impulse Story might find its way into my collection. I disposed of the vinyl years ago but it would be useful to have a sample of the American quartet. I certainly wouldn't want much more by this group. I've also bought the odd Blue Note collection for an unissued track.
  5. You are right Steve, Miles and Shepp shared the same bill.
  6. My opinion too. It still sounds great today, it's one of those timeless and deeply satisfying things imo.
  7. Hugh Ragin. Wonderful. Check out his recordings on Justin Time.
  8. I'm making do with the previous issues. Timings are WITTCL - 15.12 Cherokee - 20.18 Swonderful - 4.59 Blue Room -5.31
  9. Knowing I'm a bit of an organ fan a friend gave me a cd by French(? ) organ player Patrick Villanueva. I feared the worst but played it to be polite, in fact it was far more interesting than I expected. Not the soul licks I expected.
  10. Pressing quality was rather poor on some issues, another reason for cd reissue.
  11. Belated birthday greetings.
  12. I really enjoyed the three earlier Konitz Nonet albums but whilst I welcome this one I feel a a bit wary about jumping in unheard. I'll look forward to comments on the board.
  13. Excellent, one to watch again. Thanks for the link.
  14. ditto; I've not heard this for quite a while but I remember it being a fine session.
  15. I've held this view for years. Thanks for posting Nate.
  16. Can't really say for sure, Milestones maybe but more likely Kind Of Blue when it first came out.
  17. Sad news.
  18. I guess I'm a jazzhole, have been for forty years - and proud of it, too late too change now.
  19. A very happy birthday to you, Lon
  20. Sad news. I saw Harley with Sonny Rollins - unforgetable.
  21. I'm told the two tracks which appeared on Affinity AFF 177, titled Overdive (issued in 1987) and omitted from the Mosaic box are. Cube Steak (3.32) and Chasin' The Bird (5.31) from 25/27 July 1956.
  22. A few regulars (thanks guys) have been keeping this going. Time for a few more of you to share some of your favourites with us. Just pm me and I'll add you to the list.
  23. I've had the vinyl and the cd. Gave the cd away to a good friend who is a big Pepper fan. I just had too much late Pepper I did see the band at Ronnie Scott's two or three times though.
  24. Thanks, lovely to see the band in action again.
  25. Yes, Happy Birthday James
