  1. Have great day Gary mate. Try to find time to get back on board.
  2. Dave, More or less my views too. Had my appetite whetted by the cd he shares with Virgil Gonsalves which I found easily and cheaply but the second cd has proved elusive or too expensive. Sidewinder, Is your in box full? tried to reply to your pm. John
  3. Anyone steer me in the right direction to get this cd at a reasonable price. It's in the Concord sale but I get the idea they don't ship outside the US, or it's ridiculously expensive.
  4. Gave this a spin today, a couple of attractive Monk numbers and stormimg version of 'Snake Out'
  5. I'll try to find out the details of the missing tracks. I understand Mosaic know.
  6. For the record a couple of tracks appeared on a UK Affinity lp, both alternates, which are not on this set.
  7. Mark Helias The Current Set Herb Robertson (t, co, flhn), Robin Eubanks (tb), Greg Osby (ss) Tim Berne (as) Mark Helias (b) Victor Lewis (d). The Current Set (Helias) Nuclear One (Helias) Ellipsis (Helias) Osby not on other tracks. Recorded at Sorcerer Sound NYC 4/5 March 1987. Enja 5041 Stereo
  8. Ditto; something I would have missed if it wasn't for this board.
  9. I've got the 'Super Quartet of Mal Waldron featuring Steve Lacy Live at Sweet Basil' cd on Paddle Wheel (Bellaphon pressing). Reggie Workman and Eddie Moore complete the quartet. I'll have to give it a spin, I can't recall very much about it.
  10. Love it too. One of the best of my recent buys. Timimg shows 80 mins +.
  11. Just four, but I've not been buying much that much lately.
  12. I picked up a couple of Applause lps and cds in my time. A crappy product but at the price I was glad to hear the music much of which was hard to find at the time.
  13. One of their best interviews in recent times, McNeil has some interesting views.
  14. Two or three degrees less on the south coast, sea breezes are keeping it a little cooler. Still uncomfortable for us Brits though.
  15. A fine player. Very sad news.
  16. Another note, the Storyville cd contains all the music from both lps with the exception of Cisum from Vol 1.
  17. I can only speak from very limited experience. Touristy, yes but found the meals interesting and good value.
  18. I had a Polydor Vol. 2. Alas no cover. I love the photograph on the Sonet Vol 1. Here it is for the record.
  19. I shall have to get this. I'll be interrested to hear the different sound. Corey Wilkes hasn't had the best of comments on this board, which I suppose is understandable as Bowie is irreplaceable. Shahid isn't exactly Favors either but I suspect there will be enough here for some decent listening in the AEOC vein.
  20. 1. Bley 2. Cherry Close run thing as both of these are among my favourite players and neither do much wrong imo.
  21. Thanks Brownie and to Ed Rhodes who emailed me. Sadly I never came across one of these. The music remains great whatever the pressing imo.
  22. Brussels is a fine city to visit. Seek out some great value restaurants behind the Grand Place. On my short visit I didn't find any jazz record shops but I'm sure there must be some. Visit Bruges (Brugge),it's a must. It's one of the finest cities in Europe and it's only about an hour out of Brussels on the train. Not to be missed, Have a great time.
