  1. UGH. Okay, now reading through the final ordering of this thing and it just makes me angry. I guess that's what Phil wanted - to be an "upsetter."
  2. Having come to Brautigan's short stories late, all I can say is "wow."

  3. Also, I never had any success trying to order directly from Moers.
  4. Yeah, problematic to say the least - almost no Europeans, no South Africans... I was asked to contribute blurbs to a few of the already-chosen individuals, so I did. I was also asked to order the saxophonists and I refused - so dumb.
  5. If you have the opportunity to check out Guardian Alien, Man Forever or Rhyton live, take it.

  6. Great news.
  7. Yeah, I like the Japanese LPs of that Roach group the best. The Horo is solid but not as concise or interesting as the Live in Tokyo volumes. Still need Nommo.
  8. Probably a reissue.
  9. Sweet; I interviewed him a couple years ago for the NYC Jazz Record and he's a fascinating guy, very friendly.
  10. Damn! Last eBay copy went for around $350. Really?!? I got mine years ago for around $50, which I thought was reasonable for something you never see. Pressing's not stellar, but it's an excellent date.
  11. Kalaparisha in the Union Square subway, playing beautifully. Unfortunately he was on the uptown side and I was rushing downtown so I couldn't pay him or chat with him. Next time, hopefully.

  12. Frank Lowe - Doctor Too-Much - (Kharma)
  13. Sam Bacile is an asshole and an opportunistic sleaze.

  14. Now: Steve Lacy - Esthilacos - (Guilda da Musica)
  15. Yep. I was waiting on a new cartridge for about two weeks, too.
  16. Fred Van Hove & Cel Overberghe - Met Strijkers - (Kamikaze)
  17. Richard Beswick, Philip Wachsmann, Tony Wren - Sparks of the Desire Magneto - (Bead)
  18. Bill Dixon - In Italy, Volume One - (Soul Note)
  19. Yeah, the few I've seen were pretty sparse. Sometimes just the title was painted on. But still pretty neat. I have Nommo and enjoy it. Babi has a different vibe, but it's absolutely great.
  20. The second Graves-Pullen is the one I have been looking for in vain for years... I have the first LP... You're lucky to have the first (hand-painted I presume?); Nommo (vol. 2) seems to come up pretty often.
  21. Looking forward to getting my late summer/fall review package from Delmark. Talked to Shevitz about this particular disc and he was very glad that the work is "out there."
  22. Don Ellis - New Ideas - (New Jazz, mono)
  23. Breaking in a new cartridge with: Sonny Grey - Skippin' - (Numera mono) w/ Waldron, Klook, Gus Nemeth and Alain Hatot.
  24. Anti-House on the stoney-phones. It's been a little bit since I've spun the 1st Intakt CD. Lotta music here. Spry yet never giving up its secrets too readily - just how I like 'em!

  25. Ah, I only knew of three Spearmans on the label. The one featuring Trio Hurricane is, IMHO, the strongest.
