  1. Happy Belated! Sounds like it was a fun time!
  2. Just bought the 2CD Bethlehem set today, found in the used racks down the street from my house. Looking forward to giving it a listen.
  3. Kate Bush - Lionheart - (EMI USA)
  4. What, the Garrett List isn't filled with sample-ready grooves?
  5. Happy Birthday! I always enjoy reading your thoughts and blog posts!
  6. Yeah, Nicole Mitchell is awesome. Whatever happened to Adele Sebastian?
  7. I'd like to hear those duets. "Old Dog Braxton" was a constant rejoinder when I hung out with AB last year. Wish I could make it to the 65th B-day concert.
  8. I still have yet to sit down and listen to these records, though I am intrigued. Kevin Shea is one of my personal favorite "young drummers" on the scene, and Peter Evans is a force to be reckoned with as well. Shea's work in Talibam! and Sexy Thoughts might not be for the faint of heart but I think it's excellent.
  9. Burton had some interesting stories about LSD and the music scene published in his book of memoirs, Meditations of a Musical Pesty-Mystic (Cadence Jazz Books). It's a fun read.
  10. The sculptor and multi-disciplinary artist Louise Bourgeois has died at 98 - someone who I thought would be with us well past 100. Story here.
  11. Ted Curson: "LSD Takes a Holiday."
  12. Nah, only what's currently on the list is on the list (few things on HOLD).
  13. I was just reading about that record in an old issue of Cadence today. Made me want to hear it, even though I'm not generally a fan of Gary Burton (have the first few on RCA and kept it at that).
  14. Kenny Clare isn't a misspelling - English drummer.
  15. how trashed?
  16. Bump - still a few things left.
  17. I really like jazz flute. Very few others do, and it's a source of continual teasing in my experience. "There you go with that funky flute crap again, Clifford."
  18. I watched the video the other day - it's pretty gross. Surprised his jaw or part of his head didn't go with the bull's horn. Bullfighting is pretty horrible, IMO, as is the Running of the Bulls - rather than reverence for a spirited animal, it's perverse and barbaric and often just stupid.
  19. RIP. I can't say we weren't warned when his prostate cancer was looking terminal, but it's still sad to hear. What a great actor.
  20. I'm pretty sure that my copy of Choco-motive doesn't have marzipan.
  21. Rod Levitt - Solid Ground - (RCA-Victor, mono)
  22. Bump with a few additions.
