  1. Looks like some edge wear on that Mosaic, friend.
  2. They usually do 1000 of vinyl issues. I know you can order it from sites in Japan still for a reasonable price. That's my plan, anyway.
  3. Julius Hemphill - Dogon A.D. - (Mbari)
  4. Not a Shirley Scott nut but the others are definitely keepers. Criss and Forrest get my tops in that bunch.
  5. The guy is clearly into wasting others' time. But in a way, all you can do is laugh about something like this.
  6. Ah, I misremembered - indeed, from what I recall not up to the LP material. There's a CD reissue of No Compromise that has a few curious (but not essential) tracks as well. Somebody has some tapes but who knows if they'll ever see the light of day. Alvin's band Mobitra from nearly the same period also deserves some hearing someday, I think.
  7. That's a good record. I wish there was more by this group; apparently a track on New New Orleans Music (which I don't have) and a few other scattered seeds.
  8. Yeah, I'd like to know, too. These would make great holiday gifts for "the ladies."
  9. Listening party at Stefan's house!
  10. I've never listened to him, though any certifiably weird motherfucker gets props in my book. Curious now.
  11. Leo Smith on hold (nice set), others still available & I am willing to work something out for the lot of the stragglers if anyone is so inclined.
  12. Yeah, it's solid. The new one with Burton Greene is real nice too. I guess the real skittery stuff is waiting for the right buyer. Seems like people on the o-board like their free-form tempered a bit.
  13. You know the drill by now; I'm clearing space for stuff I barely have time to listen to by selling the stuff I definitely have no time to listen to. Most of it has been played once or twice but is well taken care of, most if not all provides good snapshots of where contemporary free improvisation/avant-garde music are, have been, or are going. Most of these were received as promos but all have their attendant boxes, liners and so forth in very good to near mint condition. Pay Pal only to ericleofdolphi (at) gmail.com. PM with your wants; they'll be dealt with in the order received. Prices are in USD and the first three discs are shipped in the US free. Postage at whole cost for larger orders. GONE
  14. Thanks, Chuck. So before using digital methods, how would such a problem be corrected?
  15. Yeah, pretty awesome and well-done.
  16. Another one here.
  17. OK, I'll shoot: Before tape-baking was common practice, what were engineers doing to correct this effect? Did the echo result from improper storage of the tape, or were there other factors to consider, such as the brand of tape? (I had always thought it took a long time - years - to develop a print-through, which is why it was surprising to hear the result on some LPs) Thanks!
  18. Yes indeed!
  19. I've never gotten all that into Jamal, but haven't really dug anywhere remotely deep.
  20. Here's mine.
  21. Must be all over the charity shops in the UK...
  22. Vernell Fournier was an important influence on Alvin Fielder. It was nice to see the video for that reason alone.
  23. The BNs usually have big "Audition Copy" stamps on the back of the jacket - at least during the Liberty era of the late '60s, that's what they had. As for Prestige/New Jazz, my few promos have "Review Copy" stamped on one label and on the back of the jacket in small-ish type. They weren't differentiated by label color like Verve and ABC/Impulse, for example.
