  1. Lee Morgan - Here's Lee Morgan - (Vee Jay stereo)
  2. Jaki Byard - Solo Piano - (Prestige, blue label)
  3. Coltrane & Johnny Hartman - (Impulse red/black stereo, in great nick)
  4. Yeah, he's great! I've got quite a few of his releases and some live performances as well. And its available! Gotta get it. Required listening if you're into the "free" stuff.
  5. Joe McPhee/Dominic Duval (one on CIMP, one on Drimala) Jimmy Halperin/Dominic Duval - Monk Dreams - (No Business) Steve Adams/Ken Filiano (Nine Winds, Clean Feed)
  6. Freddie Hubbard - Blue Spirits - (BN, 70s pressing)
  7. Emtidi - Saat - (Think Progressive reissue)
  8. Never had it but would enjoy hearing that.
  9. PM sent on the Bailey. The Morgue set is a little out of my price range on vinyl.
  10. Damn - still looking for one of them. The CD will have to do. I see both pressings often on the 'net; will let you know the next time one passes by.
  11. Alan Shorter - Parabolic - (Verve/Polydor UK)
  12. The Pozar is a nice one. Also the Ed Curran and Marc Levin (all those New Music Savoys that Dixon helmed are rad). I like Watts's tone on the tenor, even if he's not really assembling things that cohesively. One of those things that I find hard to put a finger on why I enjoy it so much, but maybe it has to do with the interesting ratio between the date's obvious faults and its sheer beauty. The Savoy comp can be had for about $5, but (IMO) you're better off sourcing the full sessions and biting the cash/patience bullet.
  13. He's really nice on both of Marion's ESPs. I guess he's also on Jacques Coursil's ESP, with Marion and Reggie Johnson. Hope that finds its way to circulation someday.
  14. Muhammad lives in Philly and is playing some. The loss of Rashied is sad, large and (for me) unexpected. RIP.
  15. European Echoes is a nice one.
  16. It's a great record and the tracks on that comp don't do it justice, save the Patty Waters "Lonely Woman," which is just heartbreaking. Glad to say I bought a copy about two years ago.
  17. Of the Riversides that is the one I listen to the least. Not trying to be all OG or anything, but...
  18. Been swamped, Chuck, but don't worry: reviews will be live by August's end.
  19. They used to do Basement Sales. Mostly crud but a few gems could be found. My friend got a few nice FMPs that seemed to be "accidentally thrown in" to the $1 boxes. He brought 'em back two weeks later and Dusty bought them at collector prices, then charged $40 a pop on the site. I would assume this would be a mixture of promos, dead stock, and used items that they haven't been able to move. Also dreck from collections that doesn't hit the floor.
  20. Hey all, I am thinking of, with permission from the artist of course, streaming a rare archival track on my blog. I don't want it to be downloaded but I do want it to be heard. Any ideas on how to do this? Thanks, Clifford
  21. Indeed, this is a pleasant surprise. Now if only somebody would (legally) collect the CBS, Wergo and FMP "early 5tet" sides... those records are marvelous!
  22. That makes sense. They sound great together from what my ears have told me. I bought this not long ago for $20. Had been curious about it for a while but I guess other things gained in priority until this year.
  23. Sorry, mine is stereo. I now wish it weren't!
  24. Elmo Hope - Sounds from Rikers Island - (Audio Fidelity)
  25. Yeah. I remember being stared at/stared down while bobbing my head and nearly out of my chair at a Steve Lacy gig. I mean, yeah, I probably looked like I was having a seizure but still - who cares whether you look smooth while grooving?
