  1. I don’t know that shop but next time I’m passing through I’ll check it out. Stroud - an unlikely jazz vinyl Mecca if ever there was one. I would have said Nailsworth was more likely.
  2. And no doubt the UK ‘courier’ service will include the boxes being thrown through a hedge backwards as part of the Hermes customer care offering.
  3. I’d completely forgotten about this thread but the Val Wilmer incident at the London JATP concert/ Jazz 625 and the comments from christiern are a horror story. Wasn’t she doing seamstress work to get by in those later years? (located in Queens I think). Also recall hearing that BN tracked her down to pay overdue royalties.
  4. I take it from this that you are not a poster on the Hoffman Forums?
  5. Remember seeing Tony’s band playing this material, a fine and spirited Monk tribute.
  6. I’ve been giving disk 1 with ‘Una Mas’ and ‘Page One’ a couple of spins today. The only versions of these I have heard which sound comparable are on the original release mono LPs, the punch and crispness is captured really well. A winner !
  7. I don’t know if they are still numbering the booklets in order or if it is random but mine is in the high 600s so looks to be selling well.
  8. Joe has arrived ! He flew in overnight ! First impressions on spinning ‘Una Mas’ - nice and crisp. Lovely ! The usual great packaging job from JazzMessengers too. Big thumbs up to them. Damn, sorry to hear that. It was still in stock the last time I looked. If it’s like the Desmond, they will get another batch in.
  9. Incoming (at least it’s now with Royal Mail).
  10. Good - sounds very promising ! Mr Addey never disappoints. I noticed recently watching that Sophie Huber Blue Note film that there was a very good Francis Wolf photo shown of Patato in action.
  11. Presumably they use cycle and ferry method ? What the hell has that got to do with it? Move on!
  12. After the usual speedy start from JM, the NL Postal Service seem to have sat on mine in the depot since Friday morning. Great - NOT ! I agree that the old TNT service was much better. The default and only option seems to be ‘regular mail’.
  13. Roger - ‘Afro Jazz’ was quite recently reissued on vinyl. I don’t think ‘Emergent Drums’ has been though. I agree with the Polygram ‘Redial’ reissues on CD co- ordinated by Richard Cook - sound has been very good. I recently picked up the ‘Indo Jazz Fusions 1 and 2’ on that series, even though I have both on vinyl. A welcome addition. Your post reminds me to dig out the vinyl of ‘Springboard’ this weekend ! I’m looking forward to this initial intro 2LP/2CD set. Suspect it will be a bit like the ‘Impressed’ compilations and I really like Tony Higgins very informative sleeve notes.
  14. Plus a bit more information about the forthcoming Decca releases here, with speculation that Taylor’s ‘Pendulum’ might be slated for its first vinyl reissue next year.
  15. Yes she was - and ‘Transitions’ is a good one in a strong bunch of Concord releases.
  16. Mine is currently in the Netherlands, according to the tracker !
  17. Interesting - I had a similar problem with a Clarke/Boland Big Band reissue from Germany, done in the early 2000s (not Rearward). Reputedly a boot (which I wasn’t aware of) and to be avoided at all cost.
  18. Maybe that ‘Space Walk’ vinyl was cut from an MP3 of a needle drop? These guys, in contrast, have access to master tapes held presumably at the old Polygram facility in Germany. Or possibly copies of the master tapes if the studio copies were retained by Lansdowne/Adrian Kerridge. I am resigned to that eventuality.
  19. My ‘Group Sounds Four and Five’ LP is OK too. But all in a good cause ! if the Tone Poets don’t get you then the Decca British Jazz explosion will.
  20. Space Walk ! Windmill Tilter ! There was a longer list announced last year (which I don’t think had Space Walk in it) but this is a great start. The double album has some great selections on it - if the listing of this one indicates intent then could be forthcoming reissues for Mike Taylor, Colin Bates, Alan Skidmore, Mike Westbrook etc. Put me down for 3 of each !
  21. My 4-for-£10 haul today. All new. And this one..
  22. I have it on Contemporary vinyl - like it, it’s in the usual very good sound. Odd that Fantasy never reissued it.
  23. Had my second shot last week. A few days of cold-like symptoms, especially joint aches. Either that or I am falling apart !
