  1. Nice to hear that the Rex Hotel is still going strong. Fun place to hang out..
  2. Maybe the difference is in the way the D to A converters handle the file format? Information wise there should be no difference.
  3. Talk about cutting it fine - just grabbed the Hawkins and added the Boogie Woogie Select and the Getz vinyl (which is on 'flash' sale).

That is a good one. Henry Lowther featured prominently, which is always a plus.
  5. Thanks guys - your wishes appreciated, as always. I did the right thing today by taking an extra day of hol. Been spinning lots of Mosaic's - all of the Blue Mitchell and Freddie Redd CD sets. Vinyl coming up next..
  6. Wade Marcus - He was all over the place back in the 1970s. The first jazz primer book I ever got was full of his stuff too ! His 'Red China Blues' arrangement for Miles was OK..
  7. I like the movie too - for all of its foibles (and it was very much of its time, late 80s/early 1990s). Saw it at an art house cinema at the time it came out and have it on DVD somewhere..
  8. Lalo Schifrin 'New Fantasy' (Verve mono) and 'The Dissection and the Reconstruction..etc.. Demented Ensemble..etc. de Sade' (Verve stereo).
  9. Judge Dredd Courtney Cox Rosanne Barr
  10. Enjoyed this too - Good to see that Ms Jordan looks so well - Fred and the JRC too. Looks like a few Mosaic boxes propped up in the shelves too. Love that story about the Horace Silver 'first' piano.
  11. Give it a few years and the hipsters will be seeking out rare CDs and ditching the vinyl..
  12. I'll look out for the CD then !
  13. Happy Birthday !
  14. Wee Jimmy Kranky Jimmy Clitheroe Clitheroe Kid
  15. No complaints from me. Another glorious day down here, in a late Summer 'Miles Davis IOW 1970' sort of way. Doesn't get much better !
  16. Great one ! That 2CD set was superlative.
  17. Another . I will try to catch one of their gigs, particularly like the playing of Ross Stanley on organ (he is great in Dennis Rollins' group as well).
  18. Happy Birthday !
  19. Good to hear - one day I will finally do that bridge walk (assuming that I can find the entrance). Weather here was great this afternoon. With added bonus that I was able to harvest the first tranche of local blackberries. No need for central heating for at least another month here !
  20. Horace Silver 'The Cape Verdean Blues' and 'Finger Poppin' (both BN NY US mono, ear). Sonically marvellous and a great tribute to RVG's craft.
  21. Good day for a walk on that Tokyo Bay bridge then.. Lovely late Summer's day starting up here in the SW. Good garden clearing conditions !
  22. Phil Shaap is playing some great RVG recordings on his show at the moment - not that he could go far wrong with the selection available. Enjoying this tribute..
  23. On the box - I will digest the Quincy Jones 'Prom' in HD via IPlayer routed through the hi-fi. Better than the real thing (and cheaper ).
  24. I've got a twitchy trigger finger. Order imminent.
