  1. Bargain. Mike won't like it though if the name spellings on the cover haven't been updated
  2. The Marshall Allen comp. is also on my list too. As are several of the Art Yard issues (especially 'Sleeping Beauty' - how did I sleep on that one?)

Very true - my UK pressings of 'Agharta' and 'Big Fun' have very long side durations and sound great.
  4. Stunningly good compilation - as mentioned in the 'Listening' thread I've been spinning this one pretty well non-stop. It works really well as a mix compilation and I agree that the sound is first rate (noticeably better than the Evidence issues of some of this material). I guess that can be credited to Art Yard's involvement. Nice booklet too, with a good Robert Campbell essay and some fine, rare photos by Val Wilmer. Talking of Art Yard, - they have just reprinted that rare Hartmut Geerken 'Omniverse' tome; very tempted to put in an order for that one.
  5. Strangely enough, I've got the feeling that that 'Faustus' was one of my set texts at English O Level (or maybe we just covered it in passing). Along with the Scottish Play..
  6. Bl**dy freezing !
  7. Air mail option (aka Banana Boat) always works for me pretty well. I'm going to be tempted by the Threadgill, Hines or Hawkins. Choices..
  8. That looks like a pretty great deal to me. Nice set !
  9. Great work - this will hopefully allow me to participate a bit more than I have been able to in the last few years. I totally hear you re: the 'day job' issue.
  10. Cheers for that !
  11. Sounds like an endorsement of the vinyl. If I see this set in the local store today I'll probably pick it up. Sam Rivers - Dedication Series (Impulse 2LP)
  12. Gnasher Camilla Prince Andrew
  13. Sal Salvador 'Frivolous Sal' (Japanese Bethlehem)
  14. Bobby Hutcherson 'Patterns' (BN Conn/Wally) Frank Butler 'The Stepper' (Xanadu silver series). Didn't even realise I had this one !
  15. Insane ! is he mad?.... And can we all join in !
  16. Power outage at place last night - pretty rare event. Fortunately back to normal now and I don't have to haul out the hand cranked gramophone !
  17. Elvin Jones Complete Blue Note, CD4
  18. Pete La Roca 'Basra' (BN 'Wally' reissue)
  19. Looks more like an episode of Starsky & Hutch !
  20. Sad news - RIP
  21. Very sad to hear of this - was just listening to him the other day on Horace Silver's 'The Tokyo Blues'. That was a magnificent performance by any standard, on a cracking LP. Some very fine work with Quincy Jones and the CBBB as well - RIP.
  22. Hungerford Bridge - just outside the RFH. I might well have passed him on that spot in the 1980s without registering who it was. One of his last UK tours was in a skip !
  23. Tony Williams Lifetime 'The Old Bums Rush' (Polydor, white label promo)
  24. Still debating as to whether or not to go the vinyl route on this one but that is a fair point !
