  1. Lovely session. Dutch Fontana, stereo
  2. BN Liberty Blue/White. Cost me £1.99 back in about 1979 - post oil crisis dump of cheap deletion stock in UK from NYC ! The Moody session on side 1 is brilliant of course but I'd forgotten just how fine the George Wallington ensemble is on side 2. Common link on both sides - Dave Burns.
  3. Spot on, I hear you. Linn has been doing the same thing with the LP12. You can buy the basic deck, then add mechanical upgrades such as Cirkus bearing and Keel baseplate and supply/motor upgrades such as Radikal. Each offers very significant benefit to what is, even in basic form, a fine deck. At least the drive belt stays 'as is'.
  4. Mingus - 'Modern Jazz Symposium of Music and Poetry...' (Bethlehem DG mono)
  5. Neil Ardley and Rendell/Carr Quintet 'Greek Variations' (Australian World Record Club)
  6. I'm definitely in for this one. Nice supplement to the Mosaic set !
  7. A bargain. With Ella F. Pablos going for $200 I would have put 'Charisma' down for a $k at least..
  8. Saw some of that Gallipoli prog when I was in Aus/NZ a year ago. As you can imagine, it was very big over there. I fell asleep..
  9. That one is great - fortunately I found it on Virgin Records vinyl.
  10. Never realised that he used to run the Rolling Stones - until Loog-Oldham 'nicked' them. Plus ran the Crawdaddy Club in Richmond - very influential. He also 'lost' Clapton. Good obit in today's Times, albeit with not much mention of the jazz connections.
  11. Rugrats Paul Daniels The Donald
  12. Dave Newton appeared at Swanage last year with one of the groups. Always worth checking out..
  13. Looking forward to having a binge on these when/if FOPP gets them in at £3 a pop..
  14. "Go direct to Disk Union, do not pass Go and do not collect £200.." All of the branches are worth checking out (understatement of the year). Hopefully one of our fine Tokyo board members will interject here. Pit Inn in Shinjuku might be worth checking out for live jazz. A bit of a pig to find though (at least it was for me).
  15. Eloe Omoe Flash Gordon Henry Purcell
  16. Zero. Just the rain...
  17. Black Lion UK Polydor German Columbia
  18. Not a flake down here. Cold though !
  19. Late Happy Birthday !
  20. Ed Balls Mrs Balls Buster Gonad
  21. Much bigger name in the theatre over here than films, until more recent times. For sure, one of those people that it was good to see, who was his own person and who will be missed. RIP
  22. Wikipedia now saying he died in NYC on 13th Jan. If that is the case - RIP, a significant musical catalyst/facilitator for sure.
