  1. Vancouver is totally nuts these days - and not enhanced in my opinion with all those high rises that have sprung up downtown. It was a much more liveable city 20 years ago. Having said that, I always enjoy a visit. I hate to say it but both it and Toronto are overdue a property crash !
  2. Seconded - well done and congrats to you both !
  3. Wish I could go - alas too far away and the £/$ would probably just about buy me a couple of DMM Blue Notes. Happy hunting for those who get to go and let us know what you got !
  4. Happy Birthday Mike !
  5. Happy Birthday !
  6. Have a good one John !
  7. 'The Fabulous Fats Navarro Vol 2' (BN Lexington). To say that this music is vital and historic would be an understatement !
  8. Always enjoyed this one. Recall that the last time I saw Miles' band (Massey Hall Toronto 1990) they did one or two numbers from it. 'Cobra' was particularly good.
  9. John McEnroe Boris Becker Boris Johnson
  10. Mosaic Ellington Capitol - LP1. Just arrived, set number 74..
  11. Good luck and congrats with your move. The previous place sounds horrific.... Yep, boring has quite a lot going for it !
  12. I thought the ending of 'Deutschland 83' was pretty rubbish - totally implausible, nothing like the way the military worked or works. Specially if you were around at the time and 'lived the era'. Enjoyable series on the whole but no surprise that the Germans hated it. Having said that, some of them were 'into' Bagwan and Udo Lindenberg back then..
  13. Yep - pretty pleased. For years good vinyl copies of that one went for pretty big bucks but I was able to get hold of a copy for a reasonable sum and in near mint too. One of the few older Mosaics that I was missing ! Never heard or seen that Sonny Red on Mainstream. Looks interesting..
  14. Freddie Hubbard 'Hub-Tones' (BN NY USA mono) and 'Hub Cap' (BN NY USA mono)
  15. The Mosaic Capitol Duke Ellington set on LPs - been after that one for years !
  16. Must have been 1980. Those tours were organised by Wim Wigt I think - he brought some great bands through the major European centres. Woody Shaw, Adams/Pullen, Dexter, George Coleman...
  17. Indeed - Cedar used to make annual, memorable 1 week appearances at Ronnies and his appearances back then always had Billy Higgins tow. Always tried to make one night of each of those stints. thinking about it, the band with Berg I saw around the time 'ER2' was released already had David Williams in it. Sam Jones was already very ill or had passed on. Great as it is having CDs or LPs by bands such as this, the experience of seeing them can never be matched.
  18. Also available in vinyl I believe as a 2LP set of unmixed tracks, which also includes CDs of the Peterson 'mix'. The full set of notes is only in the CD version though.
  19. Roo Sir Les Dame Edna
  20. Sun Ra 'Nuclear War' (Greek Music Box/Y)
  21. I've never seen it but would pick it up if I ever saw it in the racks for reasonable $. Was it an Ozzie Cadena production?
  22. Timeless LP. Good memories of seeing this very band 'back in the day'.
  23. I'd forgotten about the Art Yard Box. A good option, as I only have the 'Jupiter' album and that is on LP. Thanks for the reminder !
  24. I drew a blank when I went searching for it over the weekend - CD or LP
