  1. HRS CD1 and Brookmeyer Select, CD1. Nice to see this thread taking over from the 'Disaster at Mosaic' thread again..
  2. A lovely box of music. Congrats for whoever has gone for it.
  3. That's the one. Thanks for posting the article. Enjoyable read.
  4. Bobby Hutcherson 'Happenings' (BN NY USA, stereo) and 'Components' (BN NY USA, mono)
  5. Miles Davis 'On The Corner' (CBS Italy, orig)
  6. Only listened to CD1 so far and it is excellent. A1 Bechet/Spanier and Pee Wee Russell material. Incredible that Malcolm Addey came specially over to Wales to remaster some of it as well ! Sound very good indeed. You won't go wrong with Curtis Amy and John Patton - both essential. Shank/Cooper awaited from Mosaic !
  7. Wish they would do a 'Complete 1950s Tempo Label Sessions'. A box of that would kick ass and be right up there with a primo Blue Note box. Tubby Hayes, Hayes/Scott 'Jazz Couriers', Dizzy Reece, Jimmy Deuchar, Victor Feldman, Bogie Gaynair, Eddie Thompson. OK, so a lot of it has been reissued by Jasmine on LP/CD and some by the Japanese on vinyl. A luxury big box with a nice booklet and the Malcolm Addey remastering treatment wouldn't go amiss though. Possibly add in there a Jazz Couriers 'Mosaic Select'? The only drawback is that I understand that the original masters might be MIA.
  8. Lee 'Moggie' Morgan Howard McGhee Maggie
  9. My Brookmeyer Select has arrived - and the HRS set from Mosaic. Some good listening ahead today
  10. Anyone seen that Bill Dixon documentary film put together in the early 80s in Montreal I think? - also featuring Cecil Tayor and Paul Bley.
  11. Unfortunately titled..
  12. Margot Fontaine Moira Shearer Katterina Ballerina
  13. Johnny Griffin Eddie Lockjaw Davis Tony Coe
  14. Duke Pearson Select gets my vote too. I've got much of the material on LP and these are nice, very listenable latin-themed sessions. Really like Flora Purim's singing on these recordings too.
  15. Alcyona Mick Mick McManus Giant Haystacks
  16. Yes - see last line of original post. I've got the feeling I might have seen Jerry Van Rooyen directing some music at NorthSea but not sure.
  17. Looks like I have a package waiting at the post office for collection tomorrow. Could be Lou Donaldson ... or it could be the HRS from Mosaic.
  18. any connection to mods? Too moodern! Birds didn't dye their hair like that in the sixties - probably those dyes hadn't been invented even. This is retro-mod. MG I had one of those Parkas back in the 1970s (last Depression). Furry hood ! No RAF decal though. Time to buy another..
  19. Just heard that my Brookmeyer is shipping !
  20. I was probably searching for Mosaics. Not sure about Clifford !
  21. Still remember hearing the announcement vividly on the radio - I was about 15. It was a Sunday night BBC jazz show I think and Cannonball had passed away that day so the news was literally 'breaking'. I'll spin a disk in his honour tonight though.
  22. Purloined - needed that one and its on my 'must have' list. Thanks for the info !
