  1. Oh no - terrible news, was hoping like mad that Joe would pull through. Another giant has passed - RIP.
  2. Kenny Dorham 'Una Mas' (BN NY USA mono)
  3. The Magon Maggie Thatcher Gorgon's Head
  4. My folks had one of those when I was a kid. Recall very clearly looking out of the back after one very long drive to see flames coming out of the back grill and a guy with a big bucket of water running out of his house to help us on seeing it (talk about luck - he was an off-duty fireman !)
  5. I'd recommend 'Judgement' first off - and Elvin is on fire on that one. A very compatible pairing ! Make sure to pick up 'Compulsion' though too (in fact I'd echo previous sentiments and say get the lot). 'Compulsion' is one of the great albums of the 1960s IMHO.
  6. Now 'back in stock'.
  7. Yep - everything up to and including TR6 was OK. The TR7 was a total dog...
  8. Message sent.
  9. Sorry to hear that Porcy. Exactly the same over here - they are getting to be an endangered species. Far too many in the past year.
  10. How about 'Grand Stan' ?
  11. Just about everything (except classic Rovers and MGs) that British Leyland ever made from 1970 through to the late 80s. Mini, Allegro, Austin Ambassador, Maxi, Mini Metro, duds the lot. To paraphrase the Triumph TR7 review (right crock-o-shit that one, remember it well) - "It was as if British Leyland's workers were trying to sabotage the country's balance of trade. Oh yeah". Well - they succeeded. Fortunately our car industry is now provided for by those useful Germans.
  12. There's one of the tracks ('Kiddush') from the lost Hancock album on Trunk's 10 year CD sampler. It doesn't sound bad at all - in a sort of 'Speak Like A Child-light with vocals' sort of way. I think I will pick this one up when it comes out. The sampler also has some outrageous and very funny stuff from the 'Dirty Fan Mail' so best not to play it in polite company.
  13. Hope this is just a temporary unavailability and not another 'Boom Jackie Boom Chick' moment. Very strange indeed that the details and sound samples have been yanked completely from 'Ye Olde Trunk-Shoppe'. Fabulous album by the way. Must try not to get totally paranoid on the Mike Taylor front but I also noticed that Sunbeam Records don't seem to have the 'Pendulum' CD reissue listed on their site any longer or in the shop. Might be a good time to pick this one - instead of taking a gample on Universal UK issuing it (or not, as the case may be - possibly a forthcoming Universal issue might be the reason that Sunbeam's version is going AWOL?). I'm not sure I'd put a bet on Universal coming good so time to pick up 'Pendulum' perhaps.
  14. Norris Turney Clark Terry Bob Brookmeyer
  15. The Mike Taylor seems to have disappeared off of the Trunk catalogue. Don't tell me it sold out completely after 2-3 days?
  16. This session gets a . Love the big double-bari sound. Nice themes but with the loose feel of a jam session.
  17. Johnny Richards Mosaic Select, CD2
  18. The chances of Caiman stocking it when everyone else on the planet has been sold out are zilch.
  19. And now you can get a Terrabyte drive for about 250 euro !
  20. Great sleeve notes by Dave Gelly on 'Mike Taylor Remembered'. The Mike Taylor original compositions were, by and large, miraculously retrieved by Jon Hiseman from some smouldering scraps in a dustbin after Taylor had deliberately destroyed them. Even more miraculously, they were recreated in orchestral arrangements based on the remaining scraps and Jon Hiseman's own invaluable experience of having lived with the music. Incredible !
  21. 'Mike Taylor Remembered' (Trunk Records). With Neil Ardley, Ian Carr, Norma Winstone, Barbara Thompson, Jon Hiseman, Dave Gelly etc. Wow - a lost Dennis Preston Lansdowne classic. Another gem from Trunk Records, and delivered to the door in record time.
  22. "And Blue Note man extraordinaire, Michael Cuscuna, helped us obtain the wonderful session photos, not to mention guidance and support for this project." Sounds nice. The gatefolds should be full of good info. Wonder what these will retail at?
  23. Nile Rogers Roy Rogers Trigger
  24. Here's the cover for the vinyl:
