Glad to hear it is able to re-open so quickly. I just hope they didn't cut too many corners to get open so quickly. They mention water damage. Water damage needs to be repaired the same as fire damage or it can cause problems in the future. Wet wood & sheet rock molds and rots. Black mold can cause health problems and rotted wood can fail. If they don't fix the water damage at some point, they might eventually find themselves in bigger trouble later.

Ok then... this brings up the obvious question as to why they felt the need to cheapen the look of their Jazz Heritage releases so dramatically. They owned the MuiscMasters material so why not just release it using a different label for your music club members? I always thought those black & white Blue Note covers looked like bootlegs. This look dramatically reduced their resale value too. I don't think I've ever paid more than a few bucks for any used Jazz Heritage CD. Doesn't this look like a bootleg?

A thank you to this thread as it allowed me to discover that David Binney put out a CD of all ambient music called "Where Infinity Begins" this past March. I enjoy playing ambient music on the headphones while I'm working and this one was worth picking up after listening to it via bandcamp.

I wonder why they chose to play Binney's track "Solo" from "Third Occasion" instead of the title track? The album is streaming on bandcamp: https://davidbinney.bandcamp.com/album/third-occasion I think the title track is pretty good. It's certainly not "free" and likely would not have gotten Lou all riled up.

I only bought a couple of Lloyd's ECM CDs and that was because he had Billy Higgins playing drums. I remember liking "The Water Is Wide" quite a bit back when I first heard it but have not played it in a while. So far, I am not digging his latest releases from Blue Note (A Trio of Trios). I have listened to the first two trio records and they are pretty boring. I should get in the 3rd and final trio LP soon. I don't expect much.

Stock losses also seem to have little to do with the health of a company's business. I work at a large company and I can't tell you how many times our stock price has dropped after they reported record earnings, mainly because some stock weenie decided that the record earnings weren't as high as they wanted. Stock values are too closely tied to growth. A company can kick major ass and report billions of dollars in revenues and still get killed in the stock market because they didn't meet the market's growth expectations. I think it's ridiculous that a billion dollar company can be considered "failing" because their growth is in the single digits. This "grow or die" mentality is really messed up.

I am pretty sure that all Jazz Heritage (Society) releases are licensed from other labels. These Brubeck releases are licensed from MusicMasters. They were budget releases available mail order to JHS members. They usually convert the LP/CD cover to black & white to differentiate them from the original.

This was never released on LP except for the Jazz Heritage LP that came out in 1994.

A full digital recording from 1992? Just pick up the cheap CD version. No need to pay big bucks for the vinyl.

What is your budget here? WhatFI reported on this in February: https://www.whathifi.com/best-buys/best-usb-turntables-budget-to-premium-vinyl-spinners They did not include the Denon DP-450USB turntable, most likely due to it's higher price. Also, I am pretty sure that all of these USB turntables require you to hook it up to a PC and run a recording app to make your mp3 files. If you want some sort of "plug & play" or in this case, "plug & record", I don't think you're going to get that.

But all that gives us is the catalog number? That's where I got the cover image (searched for Novus BVCJ-637). But I cannot find this CD available anywhere on the web.

I don't have the Mosaic box. I bought the expanded (10 tracks) CD years before that Mosaic box was released. It's got Mobley on it. How could I resist? I see that it was produced by Bob Shad. I wonder if R. Ellen wrote all the music?

On the original Jazz Selection 78s of the Hardee recordings, all of the tunes are attributed to Hardee: And yet when Shad issued it on his Jax label, it was then written by Ellen:

So Mainstream was legit but on this CD, they were simply lazy about getting the song credits right?

Looking at this song list... was Mainstream a legit label? On this CD, they assigned almost all writing credits to "(R Ellen) Molique Music BMI" and gave themselves copyright of all of the music with ℗ Mainstream Records. Clearly these things are not true.

I wonder who is right on the recording date? Mainstream: DCC:
