  1. Whew it's a relief that there's nothing wrong with that. . . I want to hear it too!
  2. Actually seems to me that Verve is utilizing also items recently remastered and released in Japan (the Basies and a few others). . . . Interesting! Waste not want not!
  3. Pretty sure it is mp3. I have burned one item from iTunes, "Phenix" by Cannonball, and it sounds very good.
  4. Thanks for the headsup, some nice additions. I could spend a hundred bucks easy! (I can't but I could!)
  5. A bit of this material came out on cd in Japan last year. Some of us got these and now are facing the prospect of getting a Mosaic! Haven't they heard the song "Don't be cruel to a heart that's true?"
  6. Me too. Not even Japan has been doing much with Savoy stuff of late that I know of. DANG!
  7. I guess I could have more clearly said "Still to come" as I know of no plans to release more of the material, but really want more of the Savoy out on cd. In time, I hope. I have lps . . . some a little worn.

    Free America

Yesterday, cduniverse shipped me these four for #13.29 each. Tes Estat by Shorter, Alan Uhuru Na Umoja by Wright, Fran Roswell Rudd by Rudd, Roswell Black Gipsy by Shepp, Archie I'm set for a while!
  9. From Impulse there is at the least: A Flat, G Flat and C Jazz From Around the World There are several Savoy titles to come out as well (I'm actually more looking for these on cd, I like the Savoys a hair better).
  10. Hope all is well, Mr. C! Thanks for being back even if just for a mo'!
  11. I did indeed order a dvd of 2046, a two dvd edition.
  12. Only better!
  13. Yes, and not to mention the Mercer cult and the mood organs and the alternate police station etc. not in the film. . . .
  14. A lot of fun and understanding can come from listening to the recreations I think. I agree the originals are important. I wish Jim luck on his quest.
  15. Wow, very good news on the Roach! The McDaniels may be interesting as well. . . .

Inventions and Dimensions is really my favorite, but Speak Like a Child is right on its heels.
  17. You're right about Androids, a closer adaptation of the book would have made quite a different movie! Here's a thread about the upcoming Scanner movie: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=17970
  18. Oh, I've faced it. I've even embraced it!
  19. Oh listening is one thing, agreeing another. Recreations can be very well done as well. Though it's rarer. And I really do like the work on earlier styles that is done by Marty Grosz, Dan Barrett, Keith Ingram, Scott Robinson and others. They do make rhythmic changes, but those rhythmic changes add accessibility; most anyone I know that is turned off by early music recordings is first turned off by the sound and then the "stiffness". . . (That's not me; I have hundreds of cds of the first decade of jazz for instance).
  20. I forgot about that screenplay, I'll bet it's very interesting. Now that you mention it (and you did in the first post) I'd really like to see a movie of "Martian Time Slip" . . . What a powerful novel!
  21. Hmm. . . that's a selling point!
  22. I am one hundred percent behind that. Yes, 1984 is available as a download. One other came out last year. Here's hoping they all come out soon, and the remaining Savoys as well.
  23. For me, it's not that it sucks. It's awful damned funny. But it is less "interesting" than the Impulses and (partly because) it has been out on cd a few times (or at least once, from Japan).
  24. You're right Eric, that one could work out more plausibly than some others. I just like other novels MORE and since we're dreaming, I'm dreaming BIG! Actually, since Hollywood seems to like to bend and shape the short stories more than anything else, how about a really well done "In the Days of Perky Pat"!
