  1. Not much real classical here either imo. More spacey improvisational music.
  2. Glad I pre-ordered the new Van Cliburn at one third the price it's now going for!
  3. I've both the lp and cd editions of the past. Amazing sounds emanating from that pipe organ! As the great great great great great grandson of a celebrated organ builder, I really enjoy the improvised music Jarrett performs. May get the new cd release in time.
  4. Me too. Watched Russell Brand and Katherine McPhee on Jimmy Fallon . . . . Like them both, for different reasons.
  5. Got mine today. Hope I don't regret subscribing this year. . . at least this one and the next one (plus bonus) are "pre-Godchaux" and "Godchaux" era shows, the two time periods I'm most interested in these days (in that order).
  6. Lewis is excellent in "Band of Brothers" as well. I like Person of Interest, didn't know Shahi was going to be on that show, that's good news. Watched Castle and The Americans last night. Today will watch Continuum and The Following to see how the third episodes are.
  7. Yes. I compared two of these to the most recent Japanese cd counterparts, also mastered by Reeves, and they seem identical to me. I don't do headphones, so there's been no problem for me. (Did a lot of recording and monitoring of bands I was in in the 'eighties via headphones and totally grew to dislike them).
  8. A favorite of mine too Joe, what a solo from Miles! One of my favorite of his solos.
  9. RIP Butch, a consummate jazz musician. Here's what Dino wrote in his blog: http://jadeane.com/blog/thu-01312013-1050
  10. Okay, but through time immemorial artists both grow audience and grow away from one, it's just part of man and his interaction with culture. He's making the living he wants I bet. More power to him, and it's probably even better for him to be less popular now. I'm less popular now and better for it!
  11. I'm arrogant enough to think I know what this band is doing, and I have the other albums. I don't listen to them much, there's just so much to listen to, and these aren't my favorites of Wayne's. I'll get around to the new one soon.
  12. Miles Davis "Lonely Fire" and "Go Ahead John" ftom Big Fun
  13. I can't answer that for you, but I find the newly mastered versions in these "Impulse Album Collection" box sets to be very nice sounding, an improvement over the early 16 and 20 bit versions.
  14. When you say "single CD reissue and the box set version" you are not referring to the latest releases (from the Hip-O Select Volume Five box set and subsequent single CD release) are you? I have the box set and the sound is NOT over-bright and harsh. Listening to it right now, very nice mastering and the recording itself is interesting in that it's not an Englewood Cliffs recording by RVG and has a subtly different presentation.
  15. Yes, Homeland is very interesting, I'm looking forward to the arrival of the second season on disc.
  16. I haven't heard this version of the material, but the music is great.
  17. I believe we discussed this extensively back when the existence of this stuff was first announced.

Thanks for the heads up about this one, I should have a copy in my hands soon.
  19. One of my favorite aspects of Sun Ship is the different recording venue and engineer for the album. A different look into the recorded sound of the Quartet.
  20. "Suits." An okay show with two of the most beautiful women on television, Gina Torres and Meghan Markle.
  21. That's the new official release, the Garcia catalog and live bounty is under way again. http://jerrygarcia.shop.musictoday.com/ Mine should be here in a few days as well.
  22. This is good material, and I'm happy it's coming out. I pre-ordered.
