  1. Got mine in this afternoon from Germany. I actually really like the poster and the liner notes thereon. Digging the sound of the first disc!
  2. I ike the music more than I thought I might, but I really wish he'd move in a different direction with his imagery and videos. Just me, but they don't do anything for me.
  3. I have the Hangover Club material and it's very good!
  4. I need to go through the most recent Goodman and the Crosby again soon, only have spun those sets once since receiving them.
  5. I do have the Ory. I've actually been looking for a set that isn't too expensive as a gift.
  6. I wish he would record on a Tannenberg!
  7. Over time I've gotten more interested in the first fifteen years or so of Blue Note than those that follow, but it took me time to get there. Who knows, you may well get around to finding these to be very compelling one of these days! But if not, talk to me about the King Ory.
  8. I'd be surprised if we see it.
  9. Still awaiting my copy from Deutchland. Soon I hope!
  10. Many many happy returns!
  11. Not much real classical here either imo. More spacey improvisational music.
  12. Glad I pre-ordered the new Van Cliburn at one third the price it's now going for!
  13. I've both the lp and cd editions of the past. Amazing sounds emanating from that pipe organ! As the great great great great great grandson of a celebrated organ builder, I really enjoy the improvised music Jarrett performs. May get the new cd release in time.
  14. Me too. Watched Russell Brand and Katherine McPhee on Jimmy Fallon . . . . Like them both, for different reasons.
  15. Got mine today. Hope I don't regret subscribing this year. . . at least this one and the next one (plus bonus) are "pre-Godchaux" and "Godchaux" era shows, the two time periods I'm most interested in these days (in that order).
  16. Lewis is excellent in "Band of Brothers" as well. I like Person of Interest, didn't know Shahi was going to be on that show, that's good news. Watched Castle and The Americans last night. Today will watch Continuum and The Following to see how the third episodes are.
  17. Yes. I compared two of these to the most recent Japanese cd counterparts, also mastered by Reeves, and they seem identical to me. I don't do headphones, so there's been no problem for me. (Did a lot of recording and monitoring of bands I was in in the 'eighties via headphones and totally grew to dislike them).
  18. A favorite of mine too Joe, what a solo from Miles! One of my favorite of his solos.
  19. RIP Butch, a consummate jazz musician. Here's what Dino wrote in his blog: http://jadeane.com/blog/thu-01312013-1050
  20. Okay, but through time immemorial artists both grow audience and grow away from one, it's just part of man and his interaction with culture. He's making the living he wants I bet. More power to him, and it's probably even better for him to be less popular now. I'm less popular now and better for it!
  21. I'm arrogant enough to think I know what this band is doing, and I have the other albums. I don't listen to them much, there's just so much to listen to, and these aren't my favorites of Wayne's. I'll get around to the new one soon.
  22. Miles Davis "Lonely Fire" and "Go Ahead John" ftom Big Fun
