  1. I can't answer that for you, but I find the newly mastered versions in these "Impulse Album Collection" box sets to be very nice sounding, an improvement over the early 16 and 20 bit versions.
  2. When you say "single CD reissue and the box set version" you are not referring to the latest releases (from the Hip-O Select Volume Five box set and subsequent single CD release) are you? I have the box set and the sound is NOT over-bright and harsh. Listening to it right now, very nice mastering and the recording itself is interesting in that it's not an Englewood Cliffs recording by RVG and has a subtly different presentation.
  3. Yes, Homeland is very interesting, I'm looking forward to the arrival of the second season on disc.
  4. I haven't heard this version of the material, but the music is great.
  5. I believe we discussed this extensively back when the existence of this stuff was first announced.

Thanks for the heads up about this one, I should have a copy in my hands soon.
  7. One of my favorite aspects of Sun Ship is the different recording venue and engineer for the album. A different look into the recorded sound of the Quartet.
  8. "Suits." An okay show with two of the most beautiful women on television, Gina Torres and Meghan Markle.
  9. That's the new official release, the Garcia catalog and live bounty is under way again. http://jerrygarcia.shop.musictoday.com/ Mine should be here in a few days as well.
  10. This is good material, and I'm happy it's coming out. I pre-ordered.
  11. Yes, the Bass VI was/is a very cool instrument. I knew it most from country music, often used to double bass parts, but according to this it was more widely used in rock than I thought. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fender_Bass_VI The "burnt satin finish" on those Strats look cool, I also would love to check out the walnut neck and Custom Shop pisckups.
  12. "The Americans" on FX. More violent than I expected. Not bad. Also a free preview of the Oliver Stone show on Showtime. Interesting!
  13. Haven't gotten my copy from across the Atlantic yet, looking forward to it. I agree Jeff, Miles' trumpeting during this time period just always interests and often excites me.
  14. No, I'm talking about threse, only 47 made I think. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230904320161&item=230904320161&lgeo=1&vectorid=229466 The new Pawn Shop series Bass VI:
  15. I confess that I love Jack as a drummer (hell I own a Sonor kit because of him) and really have never been that impressed with the work as a leader. I definitely have heard the Elvin and Tony in him from the start of my listening to him (at the beginning of the 'seventies) and also a propulsive pulse that reminds me of Rasheid Ali at his best. He drives music, with the best of driving skill.
  16. Well, regardless, hope it's a great day.
  17. Pretty, but I'm not really a Tele fan, have one, don't play it often.
  18. Stuart, I hasven't seen a need to humidify myself. Some cool new guitars from Fender. . . . There's a very limited run of American Standard Strats with "burnt satin finishes," walnut necks and Custom Shop pickups that I think look awesome, and there's finally a reasonably priced Bass Vi out, in the Pawn Shop Series. The latter I may try to pick up in the next few years, trade or sell one of my ohter basses. Brooks. . . here maybe this will help: I don't think that guitar is anything special.
  19. Watching "Lie to Me" Season 2 and episodes of "Millionaire Matchmaker," which is a hoot.
  20. One of the bands I've seen most in my life, and a big favorite during the 'seventies. RIP Bonner and thanks!
