Thanks for posting the heads up Hans! What a set! This is going to be a tremendous treat!

Don's proposal interested me. I think he fell in love with Megan because she seems to really "want him" and "look up to him" and she does not know of his hidden realities (correct me if I'm wrong, please!) He can't seem to lose himself in escape with a woman who knows his secrets, perhaps neither person could then ever let their guards go completely down. . . . I really think when he saw Megan so smoothly and positively interact with his children, he saw what he always wanted for his children and perhaps himself and never received in his marriage with Betty. . . . I could be totally off base here, but the proposal did have a sort of weight to it that made the finale a heavy hitter for me.

Nobody died! Well, interesting ending to an interesting season. I actually liked Mad Men more than ever this season, and the writers earned some real cred with me by knocking Don down from the high life a few pegs and showing his choices and actions catching up to him. I think he's going to regret dumping Dr. Miller.

I'm really disappointed in the new "network" season. Hawaii Five-O I had big hopes for but it's really limp. I can't watch Detroit 1-8-7 because there are three shows I've been following now in that time slot, I record two and watch one. The Event I had wished to be good but it's a bust. Outsourced is a real stinker. Outlaw has promise, but it's already been canceled and will have a few more episodes to reel out before it's gone. Ah well, luckily Fringe is better than ever, the Good Wife continues to be great, and there's a nice new motorcycle magazine show on Discovery called "Cafe Racer" to watch. I finished watching the Mad Men season finale just before I went to bed, and can't wait to watch the season finale to Rubicon this morning.

Many many happy returns Chris!

I've got a lot of his work on cd. Sometimes I really like his recordings. Sometimes I feel as if I'd not miss them if they all went away. It's a weird situation that may or may not resolve itself one of these days. Some of the fifties and sixties recordings are really beautiful and fascinating, as "recordings," that Capitol sound was something else.

Hope it's great and there are many many more!

anyone else share my enthusiasm? I must say. . . my least favorite "type" of Porcupine Tree. I prefer them post-Signify, they really "click" for me in the harder, more concise settings.

No. That's probably the Steve Miller Band, or maybe Kiss.
-
Hey, that's still within Sheriff Andrew Griffith's territory. . . .

Many happy happy returns!

The awkward thing is that the dvd concert and the Tanglewood concert cd aren't available outside these sets. . . . And they're BITCHIN'! Maybe one day.

Many many happy returns with a cherry on top! -
I've seen no reference to that. Maybe not. Sure would!

Sorry to hear about that. I know about an empty house. Losing a spouse is a different sort of "empty nest" situation. It's been three years on the 8th, and I've been able to cope (I thank my loving girl friend every day for all that she's brought to my life the last years) but there's still an emptiness to fill. It will be filled, the time is just not now. It gets better dayh after day, week after week, month after month and now year after year. The challenge in many ways is "to fill the time." For me that means the unsavory task of finding a fulfilling job (haven't accomplished that in a long time!) and pursuing creative outlets. I know you'll find ways to fill the time. The health issues. . .could be stress, stress at this new situation, etc. I recommend giving and receiving as much affection as possible. Sorry about your dog. I've lost three cats in the last dozen years, and I've no pet now and it's not really "right" but I can't bear to lose another, still can't bear the thought, so I'm doing without.

I have six or seven of these "Original" sets and not one has used a mastering that had not been out before. . . . I'd be very surprised if they did this for either of the Brubecks. I'd loved to be surprised, but seriously doubt I will be.

I don't think they're using old pressed discs, just not spending money making any new glass masters, doing any eq or other remastering efforts. Nothing new in the way of mastering or remastering has appeared in any of these bundles that I have or have read about. Not a bad deal at all if you don't have most of these already.

what are you drinking right now?

I think I'll look and see if I can find some of this. . . . Loved it as a 'tween. -
You know what? It sounded like Hank even when it didn't. The man made a cool little universe of sound, something to be commended and remembered. Duke's contribution is substantial here!

She's more of an investigator than an "assistant." Yes, she's great. I first saw her in "A Mighty Heart."

Feds weigh ban on all driver phone use in cars
jazzbo replied to BERIGAN's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
True. I predict it would never happen though. I can't use a phone while driving my vehicle. (Only two wheels). But I do rely on talking to my gal on her commute back and forth from work, 30 to 60 minutes one way, depending on the traffic at the time of day, and it's all hands-free on her part. And it really helps out our days. -
Many many many happy returns!

I avoid Scrubs whenever possible. Luckily no one that annoying is in my real life. I love The Good Wife. The new season is off to a great start. Matthew, the Opeth is AWESOME. Great performances, great sound, great video. Great release!
