  2. Ummm. . . this was a Duke Ellington, not an Atlantic, production. It was NOT RECORDED at Atlantic Studios. Ellington had it recorded at National Recording Studios, New York, New York on April 27, 1970 and May 13, 1970

  9. Enjoy it. . . have many happy returns.
  10. Blu-Rays all play dvds, upsamples them all, they look and sound incredible. Nd now you don't need anything extra for Blu-Ray. HDMI is nice but not essential.
  11. Laton, Buy a Blu-Ray player. They make dvds look absolutely fantastic. They sound really really good with cds and dvds. And you can play Blu-Rays, which are fantastic. Going to be lots of Blu-Rays, getting cheaper and cheaper all the time. I have two Sony Blu-Ray players, one that used to be their top of the line, the first one in the ES series, and a midline one bought last year, for about 300 bucks, both totally problem free, totally enjoyable.
  12. Last night's "Lost" (I recorded it; I watched "Life" in the same time slot.) Lost is back baby! This is a great season so far.
  13. Dusty Groove has used copies of the third and fourth volumes of the Deluxe JIP boxes. . . for 19 dollars each.
  14. Again today. This is a very cool set.
  15. But hell man, he's clearly playing an 'air' picolo bass!
  16. Hope you have many more great ones ahead!
  17. Yes, these are real bargains, even more so when they first came out; I think I got mine for 13 dollars and postage (the Ellington is the only one I have). The Waller is the same music as is on the most recent Columbia three disc box set, admittedly without the excellent booklet. There are other threads on these in the reissue forum.
  18. ORGANISSIMO MEMBER TO CHEWY ORGANISSIMO MEMBER TO CHEWY: I prefer RVGs to McMasters. To each their own.
  19. I totally completely utterly DIG the orchestration/reworkings.
  20. You're going to dig the La Porta!
  21. The music is good. Was out on two TOCJ cds from quite some years ago, and much more recently as two US RVG Blue Notes. I don't know anythinga bout the lps availability.
  22. It's a dvd, from Improv Jazz: R.R. Kirk In Europe 1962-1967 (2006) Right now: Frontline: Inside the Meltdown
