  1. Hey, SS1, you download the latest Jeff Miller EP that they just added today?
  2. About time, Noj......welcome back! I knew you could do it ...
  3. What gdogus said. TONS of stuff for a VERY reasonable price.

    Chico Freeman

Interesting. I've never seen this one. I'll keep an eye out for it. OTOH, AMG doesn't seem to care for it: "... there is an unfinished quality to many of the selections, eight of which are under three minutes in length. Other than Lightsey's contributions, this effort is surprisingly forgettable."

... and don't forget the 2 albums by The Leaders - "Mudfoot" (Blackhawk) & "Out Here Like This" (Black Saint). Arthur Blythe Lester Bowie Chico Freeman Kirk Lightsey Cecil McBee Don Moye
  6. Oops. OK.......fixed, I think. My bad (scotch withdrawals)
  7. I was at that one! My notes indicate that Hubert Laws was the headliner, though. WP second and Lonnie Liston Smith third. Interesting ...

    Chico Freeman

Chico's "Beyond the Rain" and "Destiny's Dance" are nice early-era albums. A little harder to find is Cecil McBee's "Compassion" featuring Chico. Title cut is amazing!
  9. I would love to see THIS show! NY Times CHARLES TOLLIVER'S MUSIC INC. CONTINUUM (Tomorrow) In the 1970's, Music Inc. was a heavy-gauge quartet designed to showcase the exertions of a blazing young trumpeter named Charles Tolliver. This reincarnation features Mr. Tolliver, whose recent re-emergence has been a welcome bit of news, and Cecil McBee, his original bassist; the continuum comes in the form of two youngbloods, the pianist Robert Glasper and the drummer E. J. Strickland. 9 and 10:30 p.m., Sista's Place, 456 Nostrand Avenue, at Jefferson Avenue, Brooklyn, (718) 398-1766 ; cover, $20. (Chinen)
  10. Valuable? In what way?
  11. $$1 is saving one for me. And he'll be happy to sell it to you for $200.

    Yo La Tengo

I was thinking of ordering that myself, Ag. It's only $15 (incl shipping!), so how bad can it be?
  13. Nahhhhhh. I don't think there's anyone here who's into him.
  14. That's the same number of JOS CDs I have!
  15. Great idea! Noooooooooooo!!!! Don't give Conn any ideas!!! No worries. Conn's gonna send you a bunch of B-3 comps.
  16. Happy Birthday, Free! Yeah.........what Conn said. (even thought it's NOT your b-day)
  17. Have a good one, Ag. Enjoy that JJJ!
  18. No immediate plans - unless Hank goes to "Last Chance" sometime soon. I still need to spend some quality time with the last few I got (JJJ, Anita, Byrd/Adams).
  19. Have a big, "boney" B-day, Free!
  20. No need to exclude any great musician here. I've got my JJ. How many JOS have you bought, Buzz? Looks like someone could use a JOS comp! Me? Bought any JOS? BBWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaHAHAHAHAHAaaaaaaaaaaaa
  21. SS and Conn..........don't get it. The sound sux. You'll hate it. It's one of the worst Mosaics ever. Who IS this guy with 3 J's in his name? Gimme a BREAK! You guys just stick to your JOS comps and you'll be happy campers. ... and if you believe THAT, then ...
  22. My JJJ is #4872 - beat ya' by 13, Ag.
  23. I don't even listen to the small sets all the way through in one sitting. Definitely a prescription for artist burn-out.....and I don't want to do that with a nice, "complete" Mosaic set. Freddie & Clifford were on disk #6, I think. Sounded pretty sweet........but I wasn't giving it my FULL attention. Plenty of time for that, though.
  24. "Tromboned out" yet BF? Yeah..........just about (not that there's anything wrong with it). Have to cool it for a while.
