That was a good show. Agreed about Azar - he was in top form. Not as old as I thought - 66. Having first heard him in the early 70s with McCoy I figured he had to at least be in his 70s.
Saw the Pharaoh Sanders/Azar Lawrence show from Zebulon in LA. It was very well done. The 2 saxes sounded great together, too.
Although it was shown yesterday, it was actually recorded last month.
Jack White posted this on FB after his performance on SNL last night:
"i thought it could be a nice gesture for me to use this blue eddie van halen model guitar for one of the songs tonight on SNL. the guitar was designed by eddie (with a few customizations i had added). eddie was very kind to me and saw to it that this guitar was made for me to my specs. i wont even insult the man’s talent by trying to play one of his songs tonight. thanks again
eddie for this guitar and rest in peace sir."
I like TCM, too. Best for discovering some obscure film you never heard of before.
A good companion to TCM (if you want to spend the $$) is the Criterion Channel. They also have a lot of the extras that you might get with their DVD sets.
