  1. As a teenager when this stuff came out I was a big fan. Not sure how well their music holds up if you're not of a certain age, but I still like most of it.
  2. Just watched it today. On fire is RIGHT! I've seen him a number of times, too. Today he reminded me of vintage Joe Farrell which I never noticed before. The band was really locked in, too. His last ECM album (The Dreamer Is the Dream, 2017) seems to be the most recent with this group. I'll have to pick it up.
  3. I bought a ticket for the Jan 1 show. Haven't watched it yet, but I have until Sunday evening.
  4. Chinen Obit Frank Kimbrough, Pianist and Composer Who Balanced Mystery with Clarity, Has Died at 64
  5. Tina Louise @TheTinaLouise I will always remember Dawn's kindness to me. We shared in creating a cultural landmark that has continued to bring comfort and smiles to people during this difficult time. I hope that people will remember her the way that I do — always with a smile on her face. 6:08 PM · Dec 30, 2020·Twitter for iPhone
  6. Chinen Tweeted this out along with the above article early this evening: Nate Chinen @natechinen For the last several hours, I've been swimming in shock and sadness at the sudden death of pianist Frank Kimbrough. An obituary is on the way; in the meantime, here is a 2014 gig review that conveys some of my feeling for his music.
  7. Jerry Tweeted this out today: Jerry Seinfeld @JerrySeinfeld Maybe just this once, just for this Festivus 2020, we take pass on the “Airing of Grievances”.. 10:59 AM · Dec 23, 2020·Twitterrific for iOS
  8. Riverside ‎"Lost 'n' Found - Live in Tilburg"
  9. I missed the Barron sets, but just saw Wilkins playing with Orrin Evans last weekend. Had other streamers to watch this weekend. VERY busy music-wise. I sure miss seeing live music in PERSON, though.
  10. Great picture! Very sad when I heard this. I never saw him, and he rarely came to the West Coast unfortunately.
  11. After watching Friday's great Dave Holland set, I decided to catch Saturday, too. Glad I did - it was excellent, as well! I wonder if this group (Jaleel Shaw, Steve Nelson, Obed Calvaire) will be recording together? They really seemed locked in. BTW, I saw Orrin Evans, too. A nice set. Smoke gives you 48 hours to watch a show.
  12. Just watched him with the Coanda Trio (Scotty Colley, Nasheet Waits) from Seeds in Brooklyn on Thursday. A typical Berne blowout session. He's always worth watching.
  13. Probably just one night for me. Orrin Evans is doing 2 nights at the same time from Smoke, so I'll probably catch that on Saturday.
  14. Looking forward to that Dave Holland show.
