Jazzmoose Posted June 19, 2005 Report Posted June 19, 2005 I'll be shocked if it breaks $100 myself. But then I've been shocked before... Quote
Brad Posted June 19, 2005 Report Posted June 19, 2005 I'd say $150 and except for money reasons I don't know why people wait. Sets like Jazzet, Parlan, Byrd/Adams as soon as they're announced I'm placing an order. On these I don't wait. I love hardbop and if a set is coming out in that area, I'm getting it asap. Quote
Aggie87 Posted June 19, 2005 Report Posted June 19, 2005 (edited) Set #3064 (according to the invoice anyway - it looks like "3694" inside the booklet!) arrived here finally! I was starting to wonder about my order - first order from Mosaic - and after a little more than a week I finally emailed them and asked how long it normally took to ship. I got a response on Thursday that basically said "oops, sorry", and they promised they would ship I would have on Friday. Well lo and behold it DID arrive as promised. I guess they got a bit busy or something. Glad it's here anyway. And the Mobley is here too. Set #4672 per the invoice, or "4E92" if I decipher the booklet as best I can. Someone could work on their penmanship... Edited June 19, 2005 by Aggie87 Quote
Ron S Posted June 20, 2005 Author Report Posted June 20, 2005 So why hasn't this set, 5 days after it went OOP, been enshrined in the sanctified "Mosaic Collections No Longer Available" list yet? Could it be some sort of Stalinist Mosaic plot to pretend that this set never even existed? Pepper Adams' mysterious absence from the cover takes on a whole new meaning. Definitely something to think about: ← Now ten days and counting. Hmmmmmm . . . . Quote
Soulstation1 Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 can we close this thread? i am still pissed that i missed out on this set i don't like to hear people brag about getting the set and enjoying it Quote
Ron S Posted June 20, 2005 Author Report Posted June 20, 2005 can we close this thread? Nope. We can't officially close this loop until Mosaic officially closes theirs. Quote
David Ayers Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 I'd quite like to talk about some other sets that people may have missed as well... Nothing like salt for an open wound, eh? Quote
Kalo Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 Honestly, I'm often relieved when a set goes OOP. Frees up some mental real estate (not to mention potential $$) for other things. Just a thought. Quote

king ubu Posted June 23, 2005 Report Posted June 23, 2005 Very funny, that strategy of holding sets back till everybody has the catalogue, no? I just got my catalogue that has the Byrd/Adams as "last chance"... glad I went online some time ago! Missed out on the Jimmy Smith set exactly like this - that was before I had any internet. Quote
J.A.W. Posted June 23, 2005 Report Posted June 23, 2005 Here's another one, starting at $145 and with the same BIN price... Quote
Ron S Posted June 23, 2005 Author Report Posted June 23, 2005 (edited) This one ended up selling for $124.50. What a difference a week or so makes (in this case, $60.50). Edited June 23, 2005 by Ron S Quote

Gary Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 (edited) I was getting a bit edgy but set #3069 (I think) finally arrived yesterday. Edited July 15, 2005 by Gary Quote
EKE BBB Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 I was getting a bit edgy but set #3069 (I think) finally arrived yesterday. ← Same here. 7 weeks later!!! Looks like Mosaic is getting all the records in "delayed orders to my place". Quote
Bluerein Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 so it's not the Dutch customs and or postal services.......I also get the Mosaic shipments after 7 or 8 weeks. Not acceptable imo. I'll check with MC if there's something they can do about this. Quote

Although I ordered the Byrd/Adams by surface (and I think they also charged the surface price only), I got it within a week or 10 days! Usually though I prefer waiting, since customs over here are much less keen on opening surface parcels, it seems. Quote
