A lot of long OOP Mosaics were just auctioned off at ebay by seller bluenotesound (Stamford, Connecticut. Cuscuna?). All mint never played sets. I bought a copy of The Complete Candid Recordings of Cecil Taylor and Buell Neidlinger on CD numbered 0039. :)

Good pick up. It's one of my favorite Mosaics. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I believe I will. I've had my eye on that set for a long time, and had previously ruled out getting the CDs issued by Candid themselves.

Looking at Cuscuna's feedback profile, there has been a lot of activity from him on ebay lately. Worth keeping an eye on bluenotesounds. Some of the sets auctioned today were also on sale earlier this month.

Is it "bluenotesound" or "bluenotesounds"? I searched for both and came up empty.

Sorry, it's bluenotesound.

All of today's auctions ended within 15 minutes or so of each other, so none are listed right now.

That's a great set, I have the vinyl version; too bad the sound is so wretched...

I had reached the conclusion that the individual Candid CDs sound worse than the Mosaic. Correct?

Not very familiar with the Candid releases, but from the little I heard, they are all in the same ballpark. It seems to me the original recordings were poor enough that no amount of cleaning and polishing will make much difference. It shocked me how bad these recordings sound compared to the earlier "Looking Ahead" on Contemporary.

So it was a wise decision to order the Akiyoshi/Tabackin as soon as it went running low. Didn't yet have the time to listen to it, but I'm surely glad my copy is safe at home.

Some "Running Low" sets are on sale til 8/31, looks like 10% off. A few new additions to the RL list, as well, Lionel Hampton, Artie Shaw, Quincy Jones.

Two Weeks Only: Sale Ends August 31st
With limited editions, saying farewell to sets is the nature of the beast. We have announced six sets from some of the greatest artists in jazz that are running low and slated for deletion. Leases from the record labels that own the masters are finite, but there are other factors involved. We also have to live by the old adage "out with the old and in with the new", as we have to make room for new sets both space-wise and and financially.

I see both the Jazz Crusaders and the Akiyoshi/Tabackin are now on Last Chance - these happen to be the two I ordered months ago ... my instincts seemto be working properly. Got the Hutcherson Select, and now it's gone. But right now I don't have the money, although the Quincy, Hamp, and Woody are on my wish list ...

Ordered the Shaw and added the Clooney to make sense shipping-wise (of course because I want it, not just to pay 5$ for shipping  )

I think you'll like the Clooney. I was surprised, frankly, at how much I enjoyed it!

We are playing now the Andrew Hill solo Select; now only in the middle of the first track of Disc 1. What an amazing improviser. Debussy is all over his playing. If the remaining of the discs are so good, I am sure it will be one of the favorite Selects.

I decided to go for the Quincy Jones - that's the one I want the most, and I can sell or give away the two Impulse and ABC discs I already have. Glad to see there are no overlaps with the 4 CD European Concerts box I have.

Question Re: the Hampton: Is there any single disc with the complete all-star sax section session with Gillespie? - that's the one session I'd really love to have.
