jazzbo Posted February 2, 2023 Report Posted February 2, 2023 Bob Dylan “Fragments” Bootleg Series Vol. 17, Columbia 5 cd set. I’m finally entering the new territory of alternate material in this box set, disc 2. Wow. Quote
Peter Friedman Posted February 2, 2023 Report Posted February 2, 2023 A new name to me, and quite impressive. Quote

That's the same release I got. Agreed, fine record. The Message from the Tribe disc (2nd version - the first version has completely different tracks than later editions) is also outstanding. There have been a lot of great Japanese reissues of late...I'm going to have to stop looking at Dusty Groove's site in order to keep the budget within reason.🙄 Quote

A visit to the DG site right now would be near disastrous for my budget Quote
jazzbo Posted February 2, 2023 Report Posted February 2, 2023 Miles Davis “Kind of Blue” Sony SRCS 9104 LP facsimile cd. This I think is the first Japanese cd after the Gold cd was released two years before. 20 Bit SBM. . . it really sounds good on my system today. I have so many versions of this title! I try to rotate them when listening to “Kind of Blue”. . … Quote

Rabshakeh Posted February 2, 2023 Report Posted February 2, 2023 (edited) Craig Chaquico, Russ Freeman – From The Redwoods To The Rockies (Windham Hill, 1998) I've been having fun with the Rippingtons recently, and been trying to find a similar hit of fizzy pop. It's not this. This one is dreadful. Charles Fambrough – The Proper Angle (CTI, 1991) This one's cool. Sadly no Rippingtons connection though. We all have room for self improvement. Any others of his records worth listening to? They all have enticing line ups. Edited February 2, 2023 by Rabshakeh Quote

I picked up that Farewell record recently via the Octave Lab Deep Jazz Reality series. Excellent record! Yes, it is a gem for sure. Agree totally re: Roach too. He is absolutely on fire but in a 100% controlled manner on tracks such as ‘Lover’. Glorious stuff. Great feature for Yusef in ‘Like Someone in Love’ too. Back on deck for a well deserved re-spin or three. 8 hours ago, HutchFan said: Next up: Wonderful ! Edited February 3, 2023 by sidewinder Quote

I have listened to it once and one think I remember, that my wife liked the first tune. She said it sounds like a movie score for some nostalgic "film polițist"........in black white or so......
