Hardbopjazz Posted July 10, 2020 Report Posted July 10, 2020 Does anyone know what this is? Can it be Jackie’s Bag under a different name? Quote

Hardbopjazz Posted July 10, 2020 Author Report Posted July 10, 2020 The cover is new to me. This was posted on the Blue Note Facebook page. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted July 10, 2020 Report Posted July 10, 2020 I had the Japanese pressing with that cover. I believe it was a King pressing. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted July 10, 2020 Report Posted July 10, 2020 (edited) If you have the US Blue Note CD or the Analogue Productions hybrid SACD of McLean's "Jackie's Bag", you have all of this music. Edited July 11, 2020 by bresna Quote
felser Posted July 11, 2020 Report Posted July 11, 2020 NIce cover. Don't think I've ever seen it before. As mentioned, do have that great CD. "Appointment in Ghana" is a big favorit of mine. Quote
sidewinder Posted July 11, 2020 Report Posted July 11, 2020 It’s one of those annoyingly elusive King ‘GX’ series issues from the late 70s/early 80s. Came and went as imports in just a few shops and expensive at the time. Still expensive now ! Future Tone Poet, perhaps? Quote
brownie Posted July 11, 2020 Report Posted July 11, 2020 The full set of these Japanese releases showed up when I was in LA in thé Summer of 1984. The Rhino record store had several copies of these at quite reasonable prices. Spent à small fortune on these beautiful LPS. Wish I had kept them. Hope the new owners still enjoy them. Quote
sidewinder Posted July 11, 2020 Report Posted July 11, 2020 (edited) I’ve accumulated a number of them. They were £8-10 over here back in the early 80s. A lot of change back then. Wish I could get them at that price now ! I need a time machine to get back to that LA Rhino store. Edited July 11, 2020 by sidewinder Quote

GA Russell Posted July 11, 2020 Report Posted July 11, 2020 The top photo is an odd shape. Is it a distortion of an LP? Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted July 11, 2020 Report Posted July 11, 2020 It is called a "keystone effect". Google it. Quote
