Can believe the Octogenarian rhythm section just keeps on playing like there's no tomorrow.

😂 - Saw the Cookers in Kassel. Yes, George Cables, Cecil McBee and Billy Hart are phantastic. Unfortunately, they only played two pieces as a trio ...

Saw the Cookers tonight at SFJAZZ.

Great show! I've seen them a number of times before, but they seemed especially energized tonight. It's been a while since I last saw them and there have been changes in the sax section. New members: Azar Lawrence and Craig Handy (who really brought the energy tonight!). Also, Eddie Henderson was not available tonight because of illness, and Mike Rodriguez (of the SFJAZZ Collective) filled in nicely.

Can't believe the Octogenarian rhythm section just keeps on playing like there's no tomorrow.

According to a short piece in today's Guardian UK (reporting on something in the Washington Post):

Kennedy Center ticket sales for orchestra, dance and theatre performances are at the worst they have been since the pandemic, analysis by the Washington Post has found.

Back in September, the Guardian reported that ticket sales at the Kennedy Center had continued to plummet following Donald Trump’s takeover of Washington DC’s premier performing arts venue.

Since then typical ticket sales are down from 93 per cent in late 2024 to about 57% this year, according to the Post.

I won't comment on this (as that would be political...)

From the AP: The board of trustees voted to add Trump’s name, making it the The Donald J. Trump and The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts. Trump, a Republican, is chairman of the board.

Awesome!  The name needed to change, I love it.  It was a unanimous decision by the board too.  💪💕

Enjoy the TV show. Must be all of your favorites. FWIW, I won't be watching. OR - is your post supposed to be satirical???

This thread will be tough to keep non-political, but please try.

Yes, please do. This is tough for any music lover, but please remember the forum rules. There are places to discuss political matters, although it leads nowhere in most cases.
